Position Overview:

The Avionics Technician is responsible for the servicing, basic tasks, and maintenance of aircraft avionics systems and components in accordance with the established maintenance protocols. This role involves utilizing technical documentation, including manuals and schematics, to perform various tasks such as disassembly, inspection, servicing, repair, modification, reassembly, installation, and conducting continuity checks, while also providing support to Avionics Systems Technicians.

Key Responsibilities:

Operate support equipment and hand/power tools safely, following Tool and FOD control procedures, while maintaining a clean and safe work environment using appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). Analyze and respond to built-in-test (BITE) results, addressing any defects or unserviceability in avionics systems, which includes disassembly, replacement, and reassembly, as well as conducting disturbed systems checks and avionics functional assessments. Provide support for EMI/EMC tasks as required. Carry out ramp duties such as marshalling, parking, towing, fuelling/defueling, servicing, and conducting pre/post-flight inspections. Assist Avionics Systems Technicians in performing necessary maintenance following flight tests. Execute authorized airworthiness functions as Shop Certification Authority (SCA) and Product Conformance Authority (PCA). Participate in off-site Mobile Repair Parties/Field Teams and Work Parties as needed. Offer on-the-job training (OJT) and technical guidance to fellow Avionics Technicians. Attend training and development sessions to maintain qualifications and authorizations. Comply with company policies, procedures, and directives.

Qualifications:

Candidates must meet one of the following criteria: graduate from a recognized aircraft maintenance or apprenticeship program, possess a current Aircraft Maintenance Engineering (AME) license, be qualified as an Avionics Technician with the Canadian Forces, or have completed an equivalent foreign military/civilian basic trade-training program. Transport Canada licensed AME's (E) or candidates with FAA/JAA equivalents, eligible for Transport Canada licensing, and experience with major modifications and prototype aircraft ground test plans are preferred. Comprehensive knowledge of aircraft avionics systems, including communications, navigation, radar, data management, instrumentation, and electrical power distribution systems. Proficient in following instructions, utilizing the Wire Information Management System (WIMS), and adhering to general wiring practices standards. Ability to read and interpret technical documentation such as manuals, drawings, Technical Data Packages (TDPs), Work Orders (WOs), and Request for Engineering Services (RES) instructions. Demonstrated proficiency in maintenance performance and a basic understanding of airworthiness requirements for authorized functions. Must meet eligibility criteria for the Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP), Secret Level II Security Clearance through PSPC- Contract Security Program, and Transport Canada RAIC clearance.
