Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Executive Chef to join our team at Hook Line & Sinker. As a key member of our kitchen staff, you will be responsible for preparing and cooking complete meals or individual dishes and foods, as well as training staff in preparation, cooking, and handling of food.

Key Responsibilities
  • Food Preparation and Cooking: Determine the size of food portions and costs, prepare and cook complete meals or individual dishes and foods, and prepare dishes for customers with food allergies or intolerances.
  • Kitchen Management: Requisition food and kitchen supplies, inspect kitchens and food service areas, and maintain inventory and records of food, supplies, and equipment.
  • Staff Training and Development: Train staff in preparation, cooking, and handling of food, and provide diversity and cross-cultural trainings to create a welcoming work environment for newcomers and refugees.
  • Support for Newcomers and Refugees: Assist with immediate settlement needs of newcomers and/or refugees, recruit newcomers and/or refugees who were displaced by a conflict or a natural disaster, and support newcomers and/or refugees with foreign credential recognition.
  • Support for Indigenous People: Develop and maintain relationships with indigenous communities, indigenous-owned businesses, and organizations, and provide cultural competency training and/or awareness training to all employees.
Requirements
  • Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate.
  • Experience: 2 years to less than 3 years of experience in a kitchen or food service environment.
  • Language: Fluency in English.
  • Work Hours: 40 hours per week.
