Position Overview: The Regional Supervisor for Child and Family Services is a key role within the Government of Northwest Territories, overseeing essential social work functions. This position is responsible for managing a dedicated team of Family and Community Social Workers across various locations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and support a team of Family and Community Social Workers, ensuring adherence to established protocols and best practices.
  • Act as a representative for the Regional Manager, stepping in as needed to fulfill managerial duties.
  • Provide after-hours supervision and guidance to social work staff, ensuring continuous support and assistance.
  • Engage with clients, families, and community partners in a respectful and trauma-informed manner.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of social work strategies that are anti-oppressive and family-centered.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in social work with a minimum of three years of relevant experience, including at least one year in a supervisory capacity, or
  • A diploma in social work with five years of directly related experience, including two years in a supervisory role.
  • Completion of a Master in Social Work is considered an asset.
  • Must meet the GNWT Professional Registered Social Worker requirements and be eligible for appointment as a Child Protection Worker.

Additional Requirements:

  • Successful candidates must provide a satisfactory vulnerable sector check.
  • Proof of current immunization status is required.
  • Current registration with the GNWT Professional Licensing Registrar as a Social Worker is mandatory.
