CB Canada is seeking a Human Resources Strategic Partner

Under the supervision of the Director of Human Resources, this role is accountable for comprehensive performance management, talent acquisition, employee training, attendance oversight, health and safety initiatives, disability management, and providing valuable strategic insights to managers within designated client groups. As strategic collaborators with both external and internal stakeholders, the Human Resources Partner ensures compliance with all organizational policies and procedures, inspires and leads by example, and fosters learning opportunities while creating a safe, efficient, and welcoming workplace for all employees.

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualities:

  • Leads, directs, and mentors the Human Resources team at CB Canada; establishes performance objectives and conducts performance discussions with direct reports;
  • Offers HR leadership and counsel to management; guides on conflict resolution, performance enhancement, career progression, and succession planning;
  • Identifies employment trends and issues both internally and externally; recommends enhancements, efficiencies, and training opportunities; assists in the implementation and delivery of training programs;
  • Oversees various programs including recruitment, onboarding, training, attendance management, health, safety, and wellness initiatives;
  • Develops recruitment strategies and analyzes the job market to attract top talent;
  • Facilitates ongoing training and development to nurture a culture that delivers exceptional experiences;
  • Formulates and executes HR strategic plans as required; ensures alignment of site operations with partnership goals;
  • Collaborates with management to enhance attendance and performance culture while prioritizing guest service;
  • Promotes a safe work environment by proactively minimizing accidents and enhancing wellness;
  • Communicates effectively with all relevant operational departments;
  • Builds and maintains strong relationships with all stakeholders: clients, partners, team members, unions, vendors, and regulatory bodies;
  • Reviews and revises job descriptions as necessary;
  • Advises managers on the application and interpretation of collective agreements;
  • Focuses on relationship-building with unions to improve communication and reduce grievances;
  • Conducts research and prepares confidential reports related to labor relations, negotiations, grievances, and arbitrations, providing support and resources for bargaining and labor-management committees;
  • Ensures adherence to licensing laws, health and safety regulations, and other statutory requirements;
  • Performs additional reasonable duties as assigned.

Successful candidates will demonstrate the following qualifications:

  • Post-secondary education in Human Resources Management (diploma/degree in HR) or equivalent work experience of at least five years in progressively responsible HR roles. A combination of education and experience may be considered;
  • CHRL/CHRP designation is advantageous;
  • Prior HR experience in a unionized setting is essential;
  • Ability to exceed expectations of both internal and external clients through exemplary leadership and timely, effective service-oriented advice;
  • A proven track record of delivering effective HR customer service across multiple departments with competing needs, providing sound guidance on sensitive issues;
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality; experience in mediation and conflict resolution is required;
  • Exceptional communication skills; proficiency in active listening, writing, speaking, and presenting;
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze issues, identify key information, interpret data, and provide actionable recommendations;
  • Collaborative mindset, actively seeking input to enhance strategy and development;
  • Proficient in all MS Office applications and experienced with HRIS;
  • Active involvement in relevant HR networks and organizations, along with ongoing community engagement;
  • Willingness to learn and develop new skills for personal and professional growth;
  • Ability to successfully pass a criminal record and credit check as required.
