Job Title: Human Resources Business Partner

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Human Resources Business Partner to join our team at CB Canada. As a key member of our HR department, you will play a critical role in supporting the overall performance management, recruitment, training, attendance management, Health & Safety, disability management, and contribution of valuable strategic advice to managers in assigned client groups.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide leadership, direction, and mentoring to the Human Resources team at CB Canada; develop performance goals and hold performance partnership discussions with direct reports;
  • Provide HR leadership and advice to managers; provide guidance on conflict resolution, performance management, career development, and succession planning;
  • Identify internal and external employment issues and trends; recommend improvements, efficiencies, and training opportunities; assist with training implementation and delivery;
  • Oversee programs such as recruitment, orientation, training, attendance management, health, safety, and wellness, rewards, and recognition at the property;
  • Develop recruitment tools and research the marketplace to attain talent;
  • Deliver and support ongoing training and development to cultivate culture to create memorable experiences;
  • Develop and implement HR strategic plans as directed; ensure site operations align with partnership objectives;
  • Partner with management to improve culture of attendance and performance while focusing on guest service;
  • Foster a safe workplace focusing on taking proactive steps to minimize accidents and increase wellness;
  • Liaise and communicate effectively with all appropriate operational departments;
  • Develop and cultivate strong working relationships with all stakeholders: guests, partnership, team members, unions, vendors, and regulators;
  • Review and update job descriptions;
  • Assist and advise Managers with respect to the collective agreement application and interpretation;
  • Focus on rapport-building with the Union working towards improving communication and reducing grievances;
  • Research and prepare confidential Labour Relations reports and surveys relating to negotiations, grievances, and arbitrations and provide support, resources, and participate on the Casino's bargaining and Labour-management committees;
  • Ensure compliance with licensing laws, health, and safety, and other statutory regulations;
  • Perform other reasonable additional duties as required/assigned.
Requirements:
  • Post-Secondary education in Human Resources Management (diploma/degree in HR) or an equivalency of work experience of at least five years in Human Resources in roles of increasing responsibility. A combination of education/experience may be considered;
  • CHRL/CHRP designation is an asset;
  • Previous HR experience in a unionized environment is required;
  • Ability to exceed internal and external 'customer' expectations through leading by example and by providing timely, effective, and service-oriented advice and service to operation managers;
  • A track-record of effective human resources customer service to several departments with competing needs, and providing sound advice on sensitive matters;
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality; mediation and conflict management/resolution experience is required;
  • Superior ability to communicate effectively; active listening, writing, speaking, and presenting;
  • Proven ability to analyze problems, identify key information and issues, interpret data, and determine implications, provide recommendations, and effectively resolve issues;
  • Collaborative (solicits input to improve/enhance strategy and development);
  • Computer literacy in all applications of MS Office and HRIS experience required;
  • Active affiliation with appropriate Human Resources networks and organizations and ongoing community involvement;
  • Willingness to learn, develop, and achieve new skills for personal and professional development;
  • The ability to successfully pass a criminal record and credit check through the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO);
  • Ability to obtain registration as a Category 1 Gaming Assistant with the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario.
