Educational Requirements

About the Role
The Information Security Team at McMaster University, part of University Technology Services (UTS), is in search of a Technical Support Analyst to enhance our cybersecurity initiatives.
This role will involve supporting various cybersecurity functions, including threat detection, incident management, endpoint security, and multi-factor authentication, ensuring compliance with established protocols. The position will report directly to the Cybersecurity Operations Manager.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assess and respond to cybersecurity incidents following established playbooks.
- Investigate spam and phishing incidents and provide appropriate responses.
- Support multi-factor authentication issues and manage related hardware tokens.
- Utilize SIEM/SOAR tools to detect and respond to security threats, analyzing alerts to differentiate between true and false positives.
- Install and troubleshoot endpoint protection across various operating systems, responding to alerts and conducting security scans.
- Demonstrate strong attention to detail and effective communication skills.
- Perform additional cybersecurity operations tasks as assigned.
Candidate Profile:
The ideal candidate will possess a well-rounded skill set, including experience with endpoint protection and vulnerability management. Familiarity with SIEM/SOAR platforms, Microsoft 365 Security, Azure AD, and Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) is advantageous. Proficiency in scripting languages, particularly Python, will be beneficial.
Additional Requirements:
- Completion of a 3-year Community College diploma in Computer Technology or a related field.
- A minimum of 3 years of relevant experience is required.
Work Environment:
This position offers a hybrid work arrangement, requiring in-person attendance as necessary. Occasional after-hours support may be needed.
