MRI Imaging Specialist

The MRI Imaging Specialist plays a crucial role in managing the daily operations of designated MRI facilities. This position requires a high degree of autonomy and initiative, as the technologist will oversee the instruction of students and guide hospital personnel, maintenance, and cleaning staff within the MRI area. The specialist is responsible for ensuring that patient requisitions align with departmental protocols and accurately correlating clinical histories with the examinations to be conducted. Under the indirect supervision of a radiologist, the MRI Imaging Specialist will perform intricate imaging procedures and patient care responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct imaging procedures while adhering to all safety protocols related to magnetic and radio frequency fields, ensuring the protection of technologists, patients, colleagues, and the public.
- Maintain a high standard of patient care, demonstrating empathy, kindness, and effective communication skills.
- Ensure compliance with the Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists (CAMRT) MRI certification and Nova Scotia College of Medical Imaging and Radiation Therapy Professionals (NSCMIRTP) licensure.
- Exhibit proficiency in I.V. insertion and make independent decisions regarding diagnostic results, distinguishing between normal and pathological findings.
- Stay informed about advancements in equipment and procedures, ensuring ongoing professional development.
- Operate the computer system for managing patient information efficiently.
- Collaborate effectively as part of a dynamic team, demonstrating adaptability and critical thinking skills.
- Proficiency in additional languages, particularly French, is considered an asset.
Work Schedule
- This is a permanent full-time position requiring 75 hours biweekly.
- Availability for call and shift work is necessary, including evenings, nights, and weekends.
Compensation and Benefits
The hourly wage for this position is $39.96. Successful candidates may qualify for a comprehensive benefits package that includes health, dental, travel, long-term disability, and life insurance, along with a defined benefit pension plan.
