**About the Opportunity**:
Valley Regional Hospital (VRH) is seeking a full-time neurologist. This position provides consultative neurology services for Western Zone. Services include seeing patients in an office setting, in-patient consultation, and performing EMG and nerve conduction studies.

VRH opened its doors to patients in 1992. The hospital serves the people of Kings and Annapolis Counties, and provides specialty services as a referral centre for the Annapolis Valley and other areas of Western Nova Scotia.

Located in Kentville, VRH is a 137 inpatient bed facility that provides inpatient, outpatient, and satellite care to approximately 80,000 residents. The facility completes approximately 5,800 cases/year with 800 deliveries/year. There is a full surgical program with after-hours surgical coverage for emergency and non-elective procedures.

**Responsibilities**:

- work as a full scope of practice neurologist providing care to the patients within Western Zone
- support Nova Scotia Health in advancing the delivery of neurology care by liaising with the applicable staff within the zone and province
- offer consultation support to Western Zone, which includes day-time coverage and occasional overnight/weekend coverage
- be accountable to the patient population in Western Zone by providing clinics and occasional satellite clinics that will require travel
- responsible to the Zone Internal Medicine Department Head (or delegate) and ZMED for their professional responsibilities and quality of practice
- operate within the Bylaws, Rules and Regulations of Nova Scotia Health

**Qualifications**:

- all applicants must be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Nova Scotia (CPSNS)
- all specialists must be eligible for certification with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (RCPSC)
- membership with the Canadian Medical Protective Association (CMPA)
