About the Opportunity

Nova Scotia Health Authority is seeking a skilled anesthesiologist to join our team at Valley Regional Hospital in Kentville.

As a leading healthcare provider in the region, we offer a unique opportunity for an anesthesiologist to work with a collegial team of professionals who value work-life balance.

Our hospital serves the people of Kings and Annapolis Counties, providing specialty services as a referral centre for the Annapolis Valley and other areas of Western Nova Scotia.

We are a 100-bed facility that provides inpatient, outpatient, and satellite care to approximately 80,000 residents. Our facility completes approximately 5,000 cases/year with deliveries/year.

We have a full surgical program with after-hours surgical coverage for emergency and non-elective procedures.

Our services include:

  • Surgical Services
  • Internal Medicine Services (including cardiology and respirology)
  • Intensive Care
  • Emergency Medicine
  • Obstetrics
  • Pediatrics
  • Radiology/Diagnostic Imaging
  • Psychiatry/Mental Health and Addiction Services
Responsibilities
  • Work a full scope of practice as an anesthesiologist to provide care to patients within Western Zone
  • Participate in call shifts
  • Provide support to the Western Zone if required, including day-time coverage and occasional overnight/weekend coverage
  • Be responsible to the Zone Anesthesia Department Head for professional responsibilities and quality of practice
  • Operate within the Bylaws and Rules and Regulations of Nova Scotia Health Authority
Expected Hours
  • Full-time
  • Equal participation in 1:10 on-call schedule (on-call stipend available)
Qualifications
  • All applicants must be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Nova Scotia (CPSNS)
  • All specialists must be eligible for certification with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (RCPSC)
  • Membership with the Canadian Medical Protective Association (CMPA)
