Position Overview: Reporting to the Leader of Asset Management & Reliability, the Asset Reliability Engineer plays a vital role within the Asset Reliability Group (ARG) at Maple Leaf Foods.

The ARG is dedicated to enhancing manufacturing reliability and operational maturity across our facilities. This position will involve supporting various sites and contributing to the development and execution of Asset Management & Reliability initiatives aimed at achieving industry-leading standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the implementation and ongoing maintenance of corporate asset management and reliability programs throughout the organization.
  • Monitor strategic asset reliability projects, providing insights and updates to essential stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to formulate and refine asset management strategies for both critical and non-critical assets.
  • Analyze asset performance data to uncover trends, risks, and opportunities for enhancement.
  • Engage in initiatives designed to improve asset reliability and minimize mechanical/electrical downtime.
  • Contribute to the development of training materials and documentation for maintenance onboarding programs.
  • Apply best practices in asset management and reliability engineering.
  • Prepare comprehensive reports and presentations on asset performance, reliability metrics, and project advancements for management review.
  • Participate in benchmarking activities to evaluate asset performance against industry standards and best practices, identifying areas for improvement.
  • Stay informed about emerging trends and innovations in reliability engineering and asset management.

Qualifications:

  • A degree in a technical, engineering, or STEM field is required.
  • Approximately 3-5 years of experience in asset reliability, maintenance, or operational excellence within fast-paced manufacturing or industrial settings is preferred.
  • Knowledge of maintenance and reliability concepts and techniques.
  • Experience with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS), preferably SAP.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills to evaluate asset reliability and performance, and to effectively diagnose and resolve issues.
  • A collaborative team player with the ability to work with cross-functional teams to develop asset management strategies.
  • Proficiency in preparing and presenting detailed reports on asset performance and project progress to management and stakeholders.
  • Familiarity with Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Visio.
  • Six Sigma training and/or an MBA or equivalent qualifications are advantageous.
  • Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), food safety, and health & safety requirements is beneficial.
  • Familiarity with reporting and analytical platforms such as Power BI would be considered an asset.
