Position Overview

The Clinical Therapist plays a crucial role within the Adult Service team in the Mental Health and Addictions sector. Reporting directly to the Manager, this professional is responsible for conducting assessments, developing treatment plans, and providing interventions for clients facing mental health challenges. The Clinical Therapist also engages in crisis management and contributes to quality improvement initiatives within the program.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive assessments and create tailored treatment plans for clients.
  • Deliver individual and group therapy sessions based on evidence-informed practices.
  • Collaborate with families to ensure a supportive environment for clients.
  • Participate in crisis intervention and conduct risk assessments for suicide and violence.
  • Utilize information technology to enhance service delivery and adhere to best practices.
  • Provide mentorship and supervision within a community of practice.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in a relevant clinical health discipline (e.g., Social Work, Psychology, Counseling, Nursing, Occupational Therapy).
  • Current registration with the appropriate provincial regulatory body.
  • In-depth knowledge of DSM-5 criteria for mental health disorders.
  • Experience in delivering therapeutic interventions for individuals with mental health and substance use disorders.
  • Strong crisis intervention skills and familiarity with community resources.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with a focus on conflict resolution.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Competency in additional languages is an asset, with French being preferred.

Experience

A minimum of two years of relevant clinical experience is required, including assessment, treatment, and discharge planning. Candidates with less experience may still be considered.

Work Schedule

This is a permanent full-time position, requiring 75 hours biweekly.
