Position Overview

The Mental Health Community Support Specialist is responsible for delivering a variety of clinical services to adults and their families impacted by mental health challenges and/or substance use disorders. This role involves working in both clinical and community environments, offering essential services such as screening, assessment, brief interventions, and case management. The Specialist will play a pivotal role in advocacy, resource coordination, and service navigation within the Mental Health and Addictions framework.


Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive assessments and screenings to identify client needs.
  • Provide brief interventions and case management services to support recovery.
  • Facilitate individual and group therapy sessions, utilizing evidence-based practices.
  • Collaborate with community organizations to enhance service delivery and resource availability.
  • Implement harm reduction strategies and promote psychosocial rehabilitation principles.
  • Act as a liaison between clients, families, and various service providers.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Social Work or a related field.
  • Registered or eligible for registration with a professional regulatory body.
  • A minimum of one year of clinical experience in Mental Health and Addictions.
  • Proficient in screening and risk assessment techniques, including suicide risk evaluation.
  • Strong independent practice skills and the ability to develop and implement care plans.
  • Knowledge of the DSM and experience with recovery-oriented practices.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build collaborative relationships.
  • Familiarity with community resources and program development methods.

Work Schedule

  • This is a permanent full-time position requiring 75 hours biweekly.
  • Travel to various locations may be necessary.

Compensation

The hourly wage for this position is $42.01.
