The Nova Scotia Health Authority is seeking a skilled Clinical Therapist to join our Adult Service team in Mental Health and Addictions. As a member of our multidisciplinary team, you will provide assessment and planning, treatment and intervention, and crisis management for clients. Your expertise will be essential in delivering high-quality care and support to individuals with mental health and addiction issues.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct comprehensive assessments and develop individualized treatment plans
- Provide evidence-based therapies, including individual and group sessions, to clients with mental health and addiction issues
- Collaborate with families and other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive care and support
- Develop and maintain relationships with community resources and programs to enhance client care
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and contribute to the development of best practices in mental health and addiction care
- Master's degree in a clinical health-related discipline (e.g., social work, psychology, counseling, nursing, occupational therapy)
- Current registration with a relevant provincial regulatory body
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of standard criteria used for the classification and diagnosis of mental health disorders (e.g., DSM-5)
- Experience in providing individual and group evidence-informed therapies based on care plans to clients with mental illness, substance use disorders, and/or concurrent disorders
- Ability to work effectively in multiple software applications and possess excellent problem-solving, organizational, and prioritization skills
- High level of written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills, with experience in conflict resolution
- Ability to work independently with limited supervision and participate as a member of a multidisciplinary team
- Two (2) years of related clinical experience, including assessment and planning, treatment and intervention, and discharge planning
- Non-violent crisis intervention and suicide risk assessment training
- Competencies in other languages, particularly French
