About the Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled Clinical Therapist to join our team at Nova Scotia Health and IWK Health. As a member of our multi-disciplinary team, you will be responsible for delivering time-limited, evidence-based psycho-social assessments and treatments to adults with Tier-3 mental disorders and Substance Use Disorders.

The ideal candidate will have a Master's Degree in a clinical health-related discipline and current registration with a relevant provincial regulatory body. They will have a minimum of two years' related experience, including assessment and planning, treatment and intervention, and discharge planning.

The Clinical Therapist will work within a Stepped Care framework, guided by disorder-based clinical care pathways. They will participate in a consultation group to ensure collegial support, accountability, and effectiveness of assessments and treatments.

We are looking for a professional who can act in a professional and ethical manner, following all recognized codes of ethics, standards, legislation, and guidelines relevant to clinical practice and profession. They will convey respect and a solid understanding of subtle and complex diversity and inclusion issues as they relate to specific groups.

About You
  • You have a Master's Degree in a clinical health-related discipline (Masters in Social Work, Psychology, Masters in Counseling, Masters in Nursing, or Masters in Occupational Therapy)
  • You are currently registered with a relevant provincial regulatory body or eligible
  • You have a minimum of two years' related experience, including assessment and planning, treatment and intervention, and discharge planning
  • You have in-depth and critical understanding of the principles of harm reduction, the dynamics of addiction, and evidence-based interventions for the treatment of addiction
  • You have demonstrated knowledge and understanding of standard criteria used (DSM-5) for the classification and diagnosis of mental health disorders
  • You have demonstrated knowledge and skills in individual/group cognitive behavioral therapy as well as psycho-educational groups
  • You have demonstrated knowledge and skills in crisis intervention, suicide, and violence risk assessment/intervention
  • You have demonstrated ability to take initiative, work independently with limited supervision and participate as a member of a multidisciplinary team
  • You have basic competencies in relation to identifying and treating concurrent mental health and substance use disorders
  • You have experience in interviewing, counseling, and teaching health concepts to individuals, families, and groups
  • You have demonstrated knowledge and skills in collaborating with families in relation to sharing information, and implementing family-sensitive services that involve families in the care and recovery of people living with mental illness and addiction
  • Competencies in other languages are an asset, French preferred
Hours
  • This is a permanent full-time position; 75 hours biweekly
Compensation and Incentives

Clinical Therapist
$49.04 hourly

Clinical Therapist (Developmental)
$42.01 hourly
