Position Overview
The Operations Manager is tasked with overseeing the safe, reliable, and efficient functioning of the Air Separation Unit (ASU) facilities. This role involves direct supervision of operators and technicians, ensuring operational excellence while adhering to safety and compliance standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure the safe and efficient operation of the Air Separation facility, achieving established quality, productivity, and cost targets while complying with safety regulations.
- Oversee employee adherence to standard operating procedures and health and safety policies.
- Maintain compliance with all relevant government regulations and company policies.
- Manage personnel and operations within a unionized environment.
- Lead initiatives focused on reliability, compliance, quality, and safety.
- Coordinate production and maintenance activities to fulfill daily customer demands.
- Ensure that the team is thoroughly trained and committed to Linde's safety protocols and operational procedures.
- Analyze key performance indicators to identify areas for improvement.
- Assist in troubleshooting technical issues in specialized mechanical, electrical, and process equipment.
- Resolve workflow challenges by optimizing the use of personnel, equipment, and materials.
- Identify operational issues and spearhead improvement initiatives in production processes and training.
- Plan and manage production outages, coordinating with contractors and internal resources as necessary.
- Exercise financial oversight for the facility, implementing cost control measures effectively.
Qualifications
Education
A university degree or diploma in plant/process management, engineering, or a related field, combined with a minimum of five years of industry experience.
Experience
- At least five years of experience in an industrial plant setting.
- A minimum of three years in a management role with project management responsibilities.
- Familiarity with financial systems and methodologies.
- Prior experience in the industrial gas sector is advantageous.
Skills and Abilities
- Exceptional time management and prioritization skills, capable of managing multiple high-impact priorities.
- Proven ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholder groups.
- Strong knowledge of construction methods, systems, and materials, with a commitment to continuous learning.
- Practical understanding of engineering drawings and tender documents.
- Ability to interpret contract documents and specifications accurately.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking capabilities.
- Proficient in using Microsoft Office 365 and project management tools for effective communication.
- Ability to implement safety policies and procedures to maintain a secure workplace.
- Self-motivated, adaptable, and a strong team player.
- Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills.
