POSITION SUMMARY

The Director of Business Growth, BDC Advisory Services is tasked with ensuring that our advisory services remain pivotal in delivering value to clients and enhancing the Canadian economy. This role involves leading the Advisory Services sales team within designated regions, collaborating closely with senior leadership and business centre managers.

In this capacity, the Director will oversee a team of Business Development Managers, guiding them to maximize their potential and evaluate their performance. The incumbent will also actively support account managers in their consulting-related business development efforts, aligning market strategies with corporate objectives to drive consulting revenue.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop and implement a strategic business development plan to ensure effective delivery of consulting services and achievement of market objectives.
  • Manage the sales team to enhance efficiency and productivity, fostering collaboration between Financing and Consulting.
  • Provide guidance to Business Development Managers in selling standard mandates and identifying opportunities for customized solutions.
  • Regularly engage with senior leadership and business centre managers to ensure optimal allocation of market-facing resources.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to maintain effective communication and achieve strategic goals.
  • Establish and monitor a management framework to align sales strategies with market performance.
  • Share best practices and insights with colleagues to enhance overall effectiveness.
  • Utilize BDC Advisory Services' Shared Services to ensure operational efficiency.
  • Build partnerships to promote consulting services among Canadian SMEs and stay informed on industry trends.
  • Share accountability for revenue generation from the BDC Advisory Services portfolio, focusing on client satisfaction and employee engagement.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement and adaptability.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in commerce, finance, or business administration.
  • Over 10 years of experience in managing business development teams, preferably in a consulting environment.
  • Experience in banking or financial services is advantageous.
  • Strong client management and project management skills.
  • Proven leadership in a professional business development context.
  • Ability to assess business needs and propose sustainable solutions.
  • Team-oriented with a focus on collaboration and open communication.
  • Exceptional relationship-building and stakeholder management skills.
  • Strong negotiation and conflict resolution abilities.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Corporate mindset with strong business acumen.
  • Entrepreneurial spirit with adaptability and flexibility.
  • Effective people management capabilities.
  • Proficient in planning and executing outreach and business development initiatives.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Bilingualism in English and French is required.
