POSITION SUMMARY

BDC is the Bank for Entrepreneurs, dedicated to assisting Canadian businesses in overcoming challenges and enhancing productivity. Our Advisory Services provide entrepreneurs with reliable, expert guidance across various functional areas. We are looking to expand our expertise in emerging technologies, particularly in leveraging data and artificial intelligence/machine learning (AI/ML).

The Senior Business Advisor will focus on aligning entrepreneurs' needs with data utilization and AI/ML adoption. This role involves assessing the current data landscape in small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), identifying applicable use cases for data enhancement and AI/ML, and evaluating available solutions. The advisor will also play a key role in raising awareness and knowledge about data and AI/ML among SMEs, including developing online training materials and facilitating workshops.

As the role evolves, the Senior Business Advisor will support the business development team in client engagements and oversee the successful delivery of client projects, utilizing the advisory methodology developed in collaboration with the team.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Serve as a subject matter expert within Advisory Services and lead the AI/ML Community of Practice.
  • Develop proprietary content and consulting solutions tailored to the needs of Canadian SMEs in the data and AI/ML sectors.
  • Provide insights on suitable business applications and technologies for various SME sizes and industries.
  • Effectively communicate complex analytical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Stay informed on trends in business intelligence, machine learning, and AI to enhance client support and solutions.
  • Collaborate with sales and project delivery teams to share technical knowledge and ensure successful project execution.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, data science, engineering, or a related field; an MBA or equivalent is preferred.
  • Proven experience in developing and implementing AI/ML solutions, particularly for SMEs.
  • 5 to 10 years of relevant industry experience.
  • Familiarity with enterprise data platforms and AI/ML tools, including Python, SQL, and data visualization software.
  • Strong analytical skills and a solid understanding of statistical analysis and data mining techniques.
  • Experience in building and maintaining relationships with stakeholders to drive technology initiatives.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly; bilingualism is an asset.
  • Willingness to travel as needed for client engagements.
