About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to join our team as a Director, Growth and Acquisition Capital. This is an exciting opportunity to work with a leading financial institution, BDC, and contribute to the growth and development of women-led impact-driven businesses.

Key Responsibilities
  • Structure and manage the investment operations of the Growth and Acquisition Capital pillar, monitoring the performance of investments and ensuring alignment with BDC Capital's objectives.
  • Develop innovative solutions to deploy equity and hybrid debt-equity capital, protecting the interests of BDC Capital and collaborating with ecosystem partners.
  • Develop investment processes for evaluating and assessing new and follow-on investments, including sourcing, screening, due diligence, and industry research.
  • Conduct business plan reviews, manage communications with entrepreneurs, management teams, and financial advisors, and prepare investment thesis and recommendations.
  • Develop best practices for conducting market research, analysis, and financial forecasting, working with clients, industry experts, and technical consultants.
  • Support portfolio companies by monitoring performance, providing financial analysis, and identifying strategic and tactical opportunities and risks.
  • Lead the development and management of the deal pipeline and portfolio dashboard, producing semi-annual reports and providing financial analysis.
  • Represent BDC Capital and Thrive Lab on various committees and engage with stakeholders to ensure alignment with BDC Capital's policies and best practices.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in finance, economics, law, or business; a graduate degree is an asset.
  • Eight to ten years of relevant experience, with fund management experience being an asset.
  • Knowledge of the Private Equity asset class, particularly in Canada, and impact investing is an asset.
  • Strong ability to structure debt and equity transactions for various risk levels.
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills, combined with the ability to interact with internal and external stakeholders and influence them.
  • Highly developed organizational, planning, and management skills.
  • Strong attention to detail while maintaining overarching goals in sight.
  • Ability to work independently and under pressure to meet tight deadlines.
  • Strong team spirit and ability to guide and coach a team of analysts and other investment professionals.
  • Good judgment, tact, and discretion.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills, oral and written, in both official languages (French and English).
