Its mandate is to support and enhance a responsive, comprehensive, regionalized health care system that promotes and provides for the physical, mental and community health of all British Columbians.

The Finance and Corporate Services Division supports the ministry executive, programs and health authorities by managing and ensuring a consistent approach to financial and corporate services planning, policy, performance oversight/reporting, and critical financial and corporate services issues management. The services are provided through seven branches: Financial Operations, Financial Analysis and Decision Support, Regional Grants and Decision Support, Capital Services, Business Financial Transformation, Audit and Investigations, and Logistics Strategy. These branches provide financial advice and assist programs to meet their strategic goals and operational plans, and ensure compliance with relevant legislation, regulations and central agency directives.

Reporting to the Director, the Budget Manager is accountable for providing financial management support to one or more of the ministry’s core programs and related work units, including: budget development and management; contract management; financial reporting; financial analysis and monitoring; and other related duties, in accordance with generally accepted financial policies and accounting standards. This includes the planning, coordination and development of the overall expenditure and revenue budgets and supporting documentation for Estimates Debate; the implementation of systems of budgetary control, including the ongoing review and reporting of historical and current year financial results; long-range financial planning; and for the provision of financial advice to the Deputy Minister, Assistant Deputy Ministers and other ministry managers.

**Job Requirements**:

- A professional accounting designation (CPA) **OR** a bachelor’s degree in a related discipline such as Commerce, Economics or Business Administration **AND** recent related experience **OR**:

- An equivalent combination of education and experience.

**Recent related experience must include**:

- Minimum 2 years in financial management including budget planning, developing and forecasting.
- Minimum 2 years practical experience using complex spreadsheets including creating pivot tables and formulas;
- Minimum 1 year experience preparing financial analysis and reports.

**Preference may be given to applicants with one or more of the following**:

- More than 2 years in any of the above requirements
- 1 year or more of experience supervising and directing staff.
- Recent experience (within the last three years) with the Provincial Government’s budget process

**About this position**:
There are 2 (two) positions available.

This position is excluded from union membership.
