BC Emergency Health Services (BCEHS) is seeking multiple **Indigenous Talent Acquisition Advisors** to join our Proactive Recruitment team and provide specialized recruitment services to Indigenous job seekers, communities, and organizations. The goal is to increase Indigenous representation in the healthcare sector and further develop the Indigenous employee community at BCEHS.
In this role, you will connect with First Nations, Indigenous community partners, and organizations to establish and develop relationships and promote BCEHS employment opportunities within Indigenous communities, and improve communication and outreach strategies.
As an Indigenous Talent Acquisition Advisor, you will contribute to the development and implementation of Indigenous-specific recruitment practices. These practices aim to support hiring managers and Indigenous job seekers by aligning hiring efforts and campaigns with Indigenous-specific anti-racism, Cultural Safety & Humility, and Relational Practice principles. The Advisor role is essential to ensure BCEHS reflects the diverse Indigenous communities we serve.
**What you’ll do**
- Contribute to the development of Indigenous-specific recruitment strategies, prioritizing innovative approaches for increased Indigenous representation in healthcare.
- Building and maintaining strong relationships with hiring managers, and Indigenous job seekers, communities, and organizations, while incorporating Indigenous worldview and practices for culturally safe interactions with all Indigenous people.
- Develop an outreach plan and communication strategies in collaboration with community leaders to engage and inform the community about recruitment goals.
- Travel and attend special events and functions to profile BCEHS and PHSA Indigenous Health Programs.
- Analyze and compile data, and prepare reports reflecting recruitment activities and progress towards milestones, goals, and objectives.
- Collaborate with internal partners to optimize recruitment plans, marketing and advertising campaigns.
- Continuously assess and improve Indigenous recruitment practices, seeking feedback and adapting strategies.
- Assist in recruitment initiatives and events, such as job fairs, online presentations, and college/high school visits.
- Engage in special assignments, projects, and events related to Indigenous recruitment and employee experience.
- Support team members on their learning journey related to Indigenous-specific anti-racism and cultural safety.
- Actively develop and advocate for Indigenous representation and inclusivity in BCEHS hiring practices.
**What you bring**
- A level of education, training, and experience equivalent to a university degree in a related field plus three (3) years of recent experience working with Indigenous people and communities.
- Lived experience as an Indigenous person and a deep understanding of Indigenous cultures, traditions, and the unique challenges faced by Indigenous job seekers.
- Prior experience in the public health sector is considered a strong asset; particularly paramedicine.
- Demonstrated knowledge of Canadian colonial impacts on Indigenous people in social and health contexts, and knowledge and appreciation of the unique history, cultures, and rights of Indigenous Peoples in Canada.
- Experience and comfort with delivering presentations, facilitation, negotiation and persuasion.
- Excellent organizational skills including the ability to prioritize workload to meet deadlines in a complex and dynamic environment.
- Knowledge and understanding of legislative obligations and provincial commitments found in the foundational documents including Truth & Reconciliation Commission’s Calls to Action, In Plain Sight, BC's Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act (DRIPA), United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples (UNDRIP), Reclaiming Power and Place Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women & Girls Calls for Justice, the Declaration Act Action Plan, and Remembering Keegan: A First Nations Case Study, and how they intersect across the health care system.
