BC Emergency Health Services (BCEHS) is seeking a dedicated and experienced Manager, Engagement and Retention. This an exciting new position within our Employee Experience team and will play a crucial part in supporting BCEHS' commitment to culture transformation, working alongside a team of people professionals within the People, Culture, and Diversity portfolio.
Reporting to the Director, Culture & Leadership - together with your teammates in Employee Health and Wellbeing, Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) and in lockstep with our Manager of Recognition - you will work closely with nearly 300 leaders at all levels to facilitate growth, engagement, and development throughout the organization. Your role will encompass diverse regions across the province, including rural, remote, and urban communities.
Bringing a caring, coaching mindset, you will partner with BCEHS leaders to uncover strengths, overcome challenges, and create opportunities for growth and change. Harnessing your broad skills in Engagement and Retention, you will work closely with your clients to embed values, actions, and behaviors that align with culture transformation and BCEHS’ People Plan and Strategic Plan.
**What you’ll do**
Specifically, the Manager of Engagement and Retention will support deliverables in BCEHS’ new People Plan through a range of initiatives such as engagement, culture, coaching, mentorship, performance programs and succession planning. A trusted advisor for leaders at all levels, your team will deliver inclusive and impactful programs designed to support, develop, and retain BCEHS’ talented workforce across the province. High level accountabilities for this role include:
- Provides leadership, advice and counsel on full-scope engagement and retention initiatives.
- Leads and inspires an experienced team of specialists, coaches, facilitators, and coordinators.
- Designs and delivers forums and meetings for leadership at all levels.
- Develops and implements a comprehensive engagement and retention strategy, including needs analysis, design, implementation, and evaluation.
- Creates engagement and retention strategies and pathways to prepare individuals for current and future organizational needs.
- Identifies gaps through needs analysis and recommends solutions.
- Manages and participates in the delivery of services such as workshops, focus groups, and development curriculum including active involvement in coaching, facilitation and development initiatives as required.
- Collaborates with partners to create and nhance engagement and retention offerings.
- Applies an engagement and retention approach to identify and develop capacity and excellence in the area of a healthy workplace culture.
- Works with Director to deliver reports to measure progress and connect to overall KPIs, scorecards and dashboards.
**What you bring**
- 5-10 years of recent related experience in Employee Experience, Engagement and Retention with progressively more senior experience including a minimum of three (3) years at a leadership level.
- Professional coaching certification and experience is an asset.
- Training in group change methodologies.
- Experience in culture transformation and team development.
- Experience designing, implementing and managing leadership development programs and initiatives.
- Strong understanding of Engagement and Retention theories, models, best practices, consulting principles, and methodologies.
- Advanced coaching, mentoring and facilitation skills.
- Demonstrated experience with continuous improvement and talent development best practices.
- Proficiency in assessing and measuring intervention effectiveness.
Proficiency in organizational change and consultation.
- Proficiency in assessing and measuring intervention effectiveness.
- Training or certification in DEI and/or trauma-informed practice is an asset.
- Ability to demonstrate the LEADS competencies, excellent communication skills with the ability to facilitate, negotiate, and influence others to achieve resolution.
- Ability to coach, supervise and lead staff. Ability to establish courses of action for self and others that are results oriented.
- Demonstrated leadership competencies including facilitating team effectiveness and team members’ professional development.
- Commitment to the value of continuous learning.
- Superior relationship building skills from the inside out.
**Indigenous Cultural Safety and Diversity**
- Knowledge of Canadian colonial impacts on Indigenous people in social and health contexts, supported by significant knowledge of Canadian and Indigenous ideologies, including knowledge, and understanding of Indigenous cultural safety, cultural humility, Indigenous-specific racism and anti-racism.
