The Alberta Emergency Management Agency, under the authority of the Emergency Management Act, leads the coordination and co-operation of all organizations involved in emergencies and disasters. This includes emergency and disaster prevention, preparedness, response, and recovery.

The Alberta Emergency Management Agency (AEMA) is accountable and responsible to the Alberta government, to Albertans, and to their communities, for the protection of people, their property, the environment and the economy from the effects of disasters and emergency events. Alberta relies on a decentralized public safety system for managing the various emergency events that occur every year. The System is made up of many stakeholders and partners including government ministries, municipal agencies, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), industry, Indigenous communities and Métis Settlements. AEMA accomplishes its mandate by effectively and successfully leading the coordination, collaboration and cooperation between all entities involved in the prevention, preparedness, response, and recovery activities within this diverse partnership.

**Role Responsibilities**:
Reporting to the 911 Manager, the position is required to assist Alberta with the transition to Next Generation 911 (NG911), which is driven federally; and once implemented there will be continued improvements and upgrades to the 911 system.

To be successful in this role, you are able to:

- Provide analysis and work alongside Strategy and Systems Support Branch staff and external stakeholders, including public safety answering points (PSAPs) to help Alberta transition to NG911.
- Ensure Alberta’s standards and grant program are as robust as possible to meet the NG911 requirements.
- Assist with the funding and reporting of 911 grants according to the program guidelines.
- Assist in the continual development of new 911 standards and auditing compliance with existing standards.
- Conduct research on potential changes to the 911 Grant Program Guidelines, standards, and legislation.
- Provide support in the Provincial Emergency Coordination Centre during emergency response in the province.

The role must understand the 911 Program and what is intended to provide to recipients and the province of Alberta.

The differing situations of stakeholders require this position to use various approaches to find solutions to resolve issues and/or promote the services of the Alberta 911 Program. - **Agility** - The 911 Program Analyst must suggest improvements to processes and program best practice and needs to adapt to changing timelines and requirements often. The analyst must adapt to change and constructively handle ambiguity and uncertainty in the performance of their role.
- **Drive for Results** - It would be expected that this role will manage assignments with requested input from the manager when multiple priority projects are present. The 911 Program Analyst must demonstrate personal drive and motivation and be able to deliver work products calmly and confidently in face of adversity.
- **Develop Networks** - This position is consultative, with a balance between the development of solutions and outlining existing options for stakeholders. The role has contact with range of interested parties. The 911 Program Analyst Actively incorporates needs of a broader group and influences others through communication techniques to grant solutions to stakeholders. It will be vital in this role to not only identify stakeholders but to document their information. This role must interact with internal Agency and Ministry staff, other GoA staff as well as Municipalities and First Nations.
