Economic Empowerment Coordinator

The Economic Empowerment Coordinator (EEC) provides Financial Education through multiple channels to empower women and their families towards prosperity. The EEC understands how financial education supports women and their families in thriving. The EEC will support YW Calgary’s Mission of Prevention, Intervention, Empowerment, and Leadership for the benefit of women and their families.
The goal of the EEC is to support clients’ knowledge, confidence, behaviour, and leadership in their own financial management through one-on-one support and group workshops within YW Calgary and the Community. The Economic Empowerment Coordinator is knowledgeable, detail-oriented, approachable, and serves as a hub of information to provide resources and referrals to supportive programs. The Economic Empowerment Coordinator works closely with Women’s Economic Prosperity teammates and Community Stakeholders in support of positive participant impact and Organizational goals.
**This is a full-time, contract position, working 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday. Vacation and benefits as per YW Calgary Personnel Policies.**

**WHAT YOU’LL DO**
- Assessing client needs and developing a client-centred service plan around financial goals.
- Assist clients with opening bank accounts, creating budgets, managing debt, and bill payments
- Provide individualized service planning and financial coaching to clients to support the development of long-term self-management skills for personal finances
- Offer financial literacy, employability, and life skills support either individually or in a group settings
- Provide personalized coaching to increase client’s financial confidence
- Facilitate referrals to internal and external resources to assist program clients in achieving their financial goals
- Assist client in systems navigation for complex financial systems such as banking and CRA
- Case consultation of complex case with team and external service providers
- Completing all necessary documentation as per program requirements
- Maintain current knowledge of empowerment resources, tools and best practices
- Manage caseload targets through intakes, client meetings, and development planning in collaboration with Organizational Partners
- Develop and maintain content for delivery of Financial Education workshops for internal and external audiences
- Contribute to Women’s Economic Prosperity program design and expansion and assist with facilitation of existing Economic Prosperity offerings (Healthy Relationships, HERE for Youth, PowerUp, Language Instruction for Newcomers, Employment Readiness, etc.)
- Actively pursue Community engagement opportunities that support WEP and YW Calgary goals
- Foster and contribute to a culture of inclusion and equity in a diverse work environment; understand and recognize that individual differences significantly contribute to YW Calgary’s success in its programs and workplace.
- Integrate diversity, equity, and inclusion principles into one’s role, work, and engagement with others, as aligned with YW Calgary’s values and Practice Framework
- Share individual accountability to create and maintain inclusive and safe spaces and practices (physically and psychologically) that are open, transparent, and encourage accountability, advocacy, and mentorship
- Understand and remain current with YW Calgary Health, Safety and Wellness policies, practices and protocols and ensure work is performed in alignment with YW’s culture
- Inform team members and leaders to stop any unsafe work practices immediately to create awareness and injury/illness prevention
- Report any hazards or incidents immediately to your leader in accordance with YW Calgary’s incident reporting requirements to help ensure pro-active risk mitigation and management in compliance with legislative requirements (Occupational Health & Safety, Workers’ Compensation Board, etc.Use all safety materials, equipment, devices, and tools required to safely perform work in alignment with YW’s role and task requirements
- Share individual accountability to create and maintain an inclusive environment the fosters a physical and psychologically safe workplace. Actively participate in the implementation of the National Standard for Psychological Health & Safety and integrate into all work practices and interactions with colleagues.
