We are a dynamic community-based health centre promoting social justice and health equity in the Regent Park neighbourhood and Downtown East area of Toronto. We operate out of several locations and provide a wide variety of services including: primary health care, chiropody, physiotherapy, health promotion, social work, community health, immigrant and refugee services, harm reduction and homeless programs, Pathways to Education, infant and child development programs, parenting programs, youth outreach and employment services. We currently have the following opening:
**Job Summary**:
The Program Coordinator - Youth Employment works with the Health Promotion and Community Services leadership team to ensure the effective planning and delivery of services and to contribute to the departmental vision. The overall goals of the Jobs for Youth (Jobs4U) program are: to provide opportunities for young people 15 - 30 years of age residing in Regent Park, Moss Park and the Downtown East who face barriers to employment; and to ensure that young people and their families receive access to programs, service and supports that enable them to thrive.

Hours of work for the position include both regular and extended hours of operation, including weekends. There may be a requirement to work outside of regular hours from time to time, in locations identified by the Centre.

**This is a **Three Year Contract, Full Time - 35 hours per week**

- November 11, 2024**Responsibilities Include**:

- Oversee the development, implementation and on-going evaluation of Jobs4U to ensure program mission and outcomes are delivered in accordance with departmental and funder-driven targets
- Oversee the day-to-day operation of the programs and lead a staff team accountable to the programs’ objectives
- Engage and liaise with partners in the corporate, non-profit, and public school sectors to ensure the program is functioning well
- Develop partnerships to link job opportunities for youth clients in the employment program.
- Develop and implement strategies for client recruitment, community outreach, and employer/business development opportunities
- Develop and implement strategies for volunteer recruitment, retention, training, and recognition for Jobs4U programming
- Assist in development of sustainability plans, support fundraising activities, identify additional sources of funding/grant opportunities, and compose funding proposals as required to ensure overall sustainability of programs
- Support the preparation and writing of funder-related reports, as required or requested by the Director
- Ensure with staff teams that there are sufficient youth registered in the programs to achieve weekly/monthly/quarterly targets
- Maintain and upkeep program websites and digital media presence including program websites, social media, LinkedIn pages, and job portal for internal and external stakeholders

**Qualifications and Skills Required**:

- Post-secondary degree in Career Development, Career Counselling, Business Development and/or Social Services or equivalent.
- At least 5 years of experience working in employment counselling and youth outreach in the community-based non-profit sector preferably in an education or employment setting
- 3 to 5 years of supervisory experience in comparable settings - preferably in youth employment and educational supports programs serving youth in high priority neighbourhoods
- Demonstrated knowledge of career systems navigation, job development, and youth outreach programming, including applicable legislation at the municipal, provincial and federal levels
- Understanding of employment-related programs, funding frameworks, Ontario Works, Employment Ontario, YESS, Youth Jobs Connection, and other initiatives at the municipal, provincial, and federal levels
- Experience in program development, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation
- Conversant with basic digital skills such as website updates, promotional material design, and social media platforms
- Demonstrated leadership and delegation experience
- Creative, strategic and analytical thinker with ability to manage multiple projects/programs
- Demonstrated experience fostering strong relationships with stakeholders in the local community and providing information and support regarding jobs and related resources to students and youth
- Demonstrated organizational skills - planning, implementation, record keeping, data gathering, and chairing meetings
- Strong interpersonal and both oral and written communication skills
- Knowledge of Regent Park area and issues affecting families living within Regent Park and Moss Park areas
- Commitment to anti-discrimination, anti-oppression principles practices and service delivery
