**Job Summary**: In this role you will be reporting to the Manager, Occupational Health and Safety. The Workplace Investigations and Safety Specialist will conduct workplace investigations, including bullying and harassment, sexual harassment, and other types of misconduct on the job sites. This role will also coordinate the BCIB Drug and Alcohol policy and will assist with ongoing Contractor OHS Program Monitoring as required across a variety of large infrastructure construction projects.

**Essential Duties & Responsibilities**:

- Support the Manager, OHS with the implementation of the BCIB Workplace Bullying, Harassment and Discrimination Policy
- Support the Manager, OHS with the implementation of the BCIB Drug and Alcohol Policy and Procedures.
- Support the Manager, OHS, with the implementation of the BCIB OHS Program including the ongoing monitoring of Contractor Occupational Health and Safety System, programs, and procedures.
- Conduct workplace investigations regarding allegations of harassment for unionized and non-unionized employees in a thorough and competent manner, complying with regulatory requirements and BCIB Workplace Bullying, Harassment, and Discrimination Policy
- Prepare investigation reports per the WB&H protocols.
- Prepare reports and analysis of workplace investigation and OHS metrics and trends for Senior HR management.
- Update and maintain investigation templates.
- Assist in the development and implementation of LR/Investigation processes in Salesforce.
- Coordinate the Drug and Alcohol return to duty protocols for CBA project workers.
- Coordinate monthly OHS meetings with Contractors on all CBA projects.
- Complete scheduled OHS inspections of construction site projects.
- Report investigation finding to Senior HR and Operations management.
- Collaborate with Site Operations and HR staff as required.
- Travel to project sites and other relevant locations.
- Monitor and ensure compliance with employment laws and regulations.

**Qualifications & Years of Experience**:

- Workplace Investigation certification preferred.
- OHS Diploma or Certificate preferred.
- 2 years experience conducting workplace investigations.
- 2 years experience implementing OHS Programs and Procedures
- Understanding of systemic barriers related to workplace investigations pertaining to Indigenous peoples and underrepresented individuals in the construction industry, including women.
- Knowledge of employment legislations (e.g. Occupational Health and Safety, Workplace Compensation Act, Human Rights Code).
- Ability to conduct well-reasoned, unbiased interviews.
- Excellent presentation and communication skills and ability to communicate effectively, both orally and written.
- Ability to exercise sound judgement and integrity when managing complex competing interests and concurrent investigations in a detail-oriented environment, ensuring confidentiality.
- Experience developing investigation plans, drafting detailed and comprehensive workplace investigation reports, and communicating investigative findings.
- Ability to conduct investigation interviews in a trauma informed manner.
- An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
- Must have a valid drivers license.
- Must be able to travel to job sites through out the lower mainland, Vancouver Island and
