Position Purpose and Summary

The Director of Student Engagement will assist the Vice-President of Student Life in building a dynamic and healthy culture within both the undergraduate and graduate student bodies. This will be achieved through overseeing undergraduate student orientation and graduate student orientation. This individual will support the Vice-President of Student Life in the supervision, selection, training, and support of the selected members of the Graduate Student Association (GSA). The individual will provide overall coordination and quality control of graduate student programming such as off-campus events, trips, and retreats. The Director of Student Engagement will help ensure the division remains strategic, relevant, and responsive through research and evaluation of ongoing Student Life initiatives. This individual will provide a vibrant and supportive team culture within the area of student engagement.

Key Areas of Accountability
- Coordinates the university-wide undergraduate student orientation program to ensure the personal inter-personal connection, wayfinding, and an academic strong start for new undergraduate students.
- Develop and coordinate an integrated orientation process for new undergraduate students.
- Collaborate with key partners and stakeholders across the university to ensure a seamless, unified, and coordinated orientation program.
- Ensure the unique needs of international undergraduate students are considered and addressed through the orientation process.
- Assess and evaluate the undergraduate orientation process on a regular basis.
- Coordinates the university-wide graduate student orientation program to ensure the personal inter-personal connection, wayfinding, and an academic strong start for new undergraduate students.
- Develop and coordinate an integrated orientation process for new graduate students. This will include pre-arrival, point-of-arrival, and post-arrival initiatives.
- Collaborate with key partners and stakeholders across the university to ensure a seamless, unified, and coordinated orientation program.
- Ensure the unique needs of international graduate students are considered and addressed through the orientation process.
- Assess and evaluate the graduate orientation process on a regular basis.
- Support the Graduate Student Association to effectively serve the needs of graduate students across the TWU campuses through mentoring and support of the GSA team:

- Support the selection, mentoring, and training of selected GSA leaders. This will include appropriate collaboration undergraduate systems and modes of leadership training.
- Actively building partnerships with other the graduate programs across the university as well as other stakeholders across our campuses
- Coordinating physical support resources such as office space and equipment as needed.
- Provide support of student leadership program
- Collaborate with the Vice-President of Student Life in planning an execution of the Student Leadership events such as Student Leader Orientation Week, and Winter Leadership Conference.
- Collaborate with the Vice-President of Student Leadership in the recruiting, selection, training, and policy development relative to Student Leaders..
- Serve as a liaison between Student Life and the other non-Student Life partners in the Student Leadership program
- Provide leadership and support of Student Engagement team
- Schedule and ensure regular team meetings, supervision, evaluation, development, and support for professional staff.
- Serve as a representative of the Student Engagement area as a member of the Student Life Senior Leadership Team.
- Serve as a representative of Student Life on various committees and working groups across the campus.
- Evaluate and assess the effectiveness of all areas of responsibility under their purview

- Demonstrated skills in program development and assessment.
- Skilled in communication, both written and oral.
- Ability to organize work under schedule, time and budget pressures.
- Ability to engage with students in a pastoral counselling role.
- Strong organizational skills.
