Associate Director, Grad. Student Engagement

**Position Purpose and Summary**
The Associate Director for Graduate Student Engagement (ADGSE) works as a member of the Student Life division to advance the mission and vision of the University to graduate students across its multiple campuses. The ADGSE oversees initiatives focused on connecting with all graduate students and developing strategies to promote their integration and success within the community. This role will highlight our identity as a Christian institution and seek to build a flourishing graduate community through the promotion of the mission, vision, and values of Trinity Western University. This will occur through the development of events such as retreats, daytrips, cultural activities that serve to build meaningful connections between students and with TWU staff while providing a deepening engagement with the mission, vision, and values of TWU. This role will support the mentoring, training of and collaboration with members of the Trinity Western University Graduate Student Association (TWUGSA) to ensure successful outcomes. The ADGSE will play a central role in. leading in the overall coordination of graduate student orientation offered by the various graduate schools/programs and the Student Life Office.
**Key Areas of Accountability**
- Deliver programming and initiatives that affirm and deep graduate student’s engagement with the mission, vision, values, and strategic plan of the university through partnerships across the university.
- o Collaborate with appropriate areas within the Student Life division to provide follow-though of TWU’s strategic plan,
- o Collaborate with graduate program directors and Student Life stakeholders to ensure mutual awareness, support, and success for graduate students,
- o Communicate in a timely fashion with other departments who are stakeholders in planning and implementation of orientation activities,
- o Identify and promote the standards that are essential for students to know and follow when participating in official University events.
- Support the Graduate Student Association to effectively serve the needs of graduate students across the TWU campuses through mentoring and support of the GSA team.
- o Support the GSA in the process of electing new officers, selecting appointed roles, in alignment with their constitution and bylaws,
- o Provide leadership training, on-going support ,and skill development for the members of the GSA,
- o Partner with the GSA in providing events and opportunities for graduate students to engage in off-site events and retreats to bolster inter-personal connections and engagement with the mission, vision, and values of TWU,
- o Advise the GSA on the protocols for planning and implementing campus events to ensure care and suitability of content for all participants,
- o Advise the GSA on responsible allocation of funds each semester, ensuring adherence to approved carry-over protocols.
- Lead in evangelism and Gospel engagement with graduate students.
- o Create occasions and means for graduate students to engage the Gospel and collaborate with other stakeholders for follow-up opportunities as appropriate,
- o Collaborate with the University Chaplain and other relevant parties to provide effect outreach to non-Christian graduate students and their families where appropriate,
- o Support the development of effect discipleship programs, resources, and partnerships for Christian graduate students.

- o Support the Director of Student Engagement in the recruitment, selection, training, and mentoring of graduate student leaders,
- o Support the expansion of the Student Leadership program into new areas on both the Langley and Richmond campuses,
- o Assist in the evaluation and assessment the effectiveness of all areas of graduate student engagement.
