**About Us**:
The Data, Information and Privacy Services Division uses a one government approach to information and privacy governance, decision-making and service delivery across the Government of Alberta (GoA) balanced with individual client needs. This facilitates enhanced data access, collaboration, reduction in data duplication and innovation to ensure effective and efficient services across the government to provide better services to Albertans.

**Role**:
Reporting to the Open Government Lead and working in close coordination with other members of the Open Government Program, the Open Government Analyst - Data manages the day-to-day operations and oversight of the Open Data section of the Open Government Portal. This role is also responsible for communicating and implementing cultural and business process change and directing communication and recognition efforts within the Open Government Program for the Government of Alberta, and to enable other Government of Alberta employees to promote the principles of open government.

The primary responsibilities for the Open Government Analyst - Data include (but not limited to):

- Collect and assess data policies, standards or other related requirements from across government and prioritize their need as they relate to open data.
- Liaise with government departments and agencies to promote, identify and facilitate the inclusion of additional data assets on the Open Government Portal.
- Develop user documentation and training plans relating to GoA open data initiatives and solutions.
- Support the creation and maintenance of high-quality metadata records for open datasets and information products within the Open Government Portal
- Establish communication strategies and build relationships to strengthen the understanding of and support for open government and open data throughout the GoA
- Assist with daily internal and external communication operations.
- Refine business processes and technology to continually improve the work of the Open Government team

**Qualifications**:
University graduation in a related discipline plus two (2) years of experience in data/statistical analysis or data/information management, or equivalent as described below.

**Equivalencies**:

- Directly related education or experience considered on the basis of: 1 year of education for 1 year of experience; or 1 year of experience for 1 year of education

**Assets**:

- Certification in communications, social media and/or writing
- Knowledge of Open Government principles, policies, practices, standards, and emerging trends
- Experience with or knowledge of data analytics and data visualization concepts.
- Familiarity with or understanding of metadata standards such as Dublin Core, DCAT, and the Government of Alberta's Core Metadata Standard

$2,588.06 to $3,397.76 bi-weekly ($67,548 - $88,681/year)
