**Position Summary**

Reporting to the Director of Human Resources, the Human Resources Assistant is responsible for providing HR support to the HR department. This includes assisting with payroll, recruitment, onboarding, offboarding, and general day-to-day operations within the Human Resources department.

**Key Responsibilities**
- Provide clerical and administrative support to the human resources team.
- Monitor employee attendance and correct errors as required.
- Coordinate, prepare and submit the payroll data on a bi-weekly basis for all employees. Including but not limited to employee letter of offers, banking information, tax forms, and hours of work.
- Monitor, maintain and update the HRIS system.
- Assist with full-cycle recruitment.
- Assist with the onboarding and offboarding of employees.
- Assist, monitor and update employee changes including but limited to banking changes, name changes, and salary changes.
- Create, update, and maintain employee personnel files (hard and soft).
- Responds to general human resources inquiries or directs them to the appropriate HR representative.
- Assist in the planning and general organizing of meetings including preparing agendas, appropriate materials, and taking minutes when required.
- Participate in and/or organize career fairs.
- Assist with Training and Development for all employees including researching, tracking, and scheduling as needed.
- Participate in special projects and committees as directed.
- Other duties as assigned.

**Qualifications**

**Education & Experience**
- Completion of post-secondary Human Resources related degree, diploma, or certificate.
- Minimum of three years working within a human resources environment.
- Excellent organizational skills coupled with the ability to be accurate, thorough, and able to monitor work for quality.
- Experience using a HRIS system; experience in Bamboo considered an asset.
- Must be able to demonstrate emotional stability and objectivity when dealing with challenging/changing work environments.
- Must be adept at problem solving, including being able to proactively identify issues and recommend resolutions in a timely manner while keeping all matters confidential.
- Adaptable and flexible with a demonstrated ability to take initiative.
- Ability to plan, balance and manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in fast paced and competing priorities environment.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team with frequent interruptions.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
- Ability to perform accurate mathematical calculations.
- Proficient use of Microsoft Office software including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Adhere to AMC policies and procedures with specific attention to attendance, and professional ethics.
- Knowledge of current employment practices, human rights legislation, and the Canada Labour Code.
- Time and attendance tracking considered an asset.
- Experience working in Human Resources with First Nations or First Nations organizations in Manitoba or other regions.
- Knowledge of traditional First Nation philosophy and contemporary practices.
- Knowledge and understanding of the Assembly of Manitoba Chiefs and/or other First Nation organizations in Manitoba.
- Must have a current satisfactory Criminal Record Check, and Clear Child Abuse Checks.
