**Description**

The **Faculty of Social Work** is currently seeking a Full-time Temporary Relief **Student Services Team Lead **for approximately 15 months.

Reporting to the Manager of Student Services, the Student Services Team Lead provides leadership, training and mentorship to members of the Student Services team within the Faculty of Social Work and is responsible for coordinating the delivery of quality student services to prospective and current undergraduate and graduate students, including advising, admission, registration, degree progression, program changes, supervision, examination, and convocation. The Student Services Team Lead supervises undergraduate and graduate advisors to ensure adherence to policies, procedures, regulations, and best practices.

This position also supports the development, implementation and delivery of programs, by providing strategic advice on policies, practices, and processes. As a member of the program development team, the incumbent helps assess the impact of new and current programs on stakeholders within the Faculty of Social Work, and foster collaboration and effective problem solving with the Admissions Office, Enrollment Services, and Faculty of Graduate Studies and make recommendations which influence priorities and procedures.

**Summary of Key Responsibilities** (job functions include but are not limited to):

- Evaluate processes and procedures, recommend and initiate changes to simplify and streamline student services business processes.
- Monitor and promote consistency in student service delivery and business processes.
- Analyze complex issues and/or problems using discretionary judgment.
- Initiate improvements through collaboration with provincial Student Services team members, to promote the integrity of student services.
- Mentor and share knowledge and expertise freely, and foster a safe and productive working environment.
- Coordinate the development and maintenance of a Policy and Procedures Manual for undergraduate and graduate programs specific to the Faculty of Social Work.
- Monitor to ensure knowledge transfer and access to information required for accurate service delivery is provided to the Student Services team.
- In collaboration with the Manager of Student Services, respond to the training needs of student advisors.
- Provides supervision for the advising team, including managing service delivery, and advisor development.
- Provide strategic support and expert advice on the implementation of new program delivery formats, fee structures, policies and procedures.
- Monitor adherence to university policies and procedures in relation to programmatic changes and implementation.
- Participate in the development of clearly articulated program delivery models.
- Alert of relevant policy and procedural issues as they relate to the proposed model.
- Actively participate in meetings relating to program planning and development; provide insightful and innovative approaches to re-designing the curriculum and possible delivery models.
- Gathers and organizes timetabling information from all three campuses in collaboration with the Manager of Student Services and Vice Dean/Associate Deans/Academic Directors.
- Provide expert program management and advice to the Dean, Associate Deans, faculty members, staff and students as it relates to current undergraduate and graduate programs.

**Qualifications / Requirements**:

- A minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in a university environment.
- Experience with the development and implementation of innovative programs, such as laddered certificate/diploma program, or specialized cohort models, and student advising at a post-secondary level in both on-campus and distance education environments.
- An undergraduate degree from an accredited university.
- Extensive knowledge of the student lifecycle and an understanding of university and faculty regulations, policies, processes, and procedures relating to both undergraduate and graduate admission, registration, and convocation.
- Demonstrated success in assessing staff training needs and development and/or delivery of training.
- Experience with supervision in a union environment is required.
- Ability to develop and maintain complex documentation related to administrative processes within Student Services.
- Ability to establish objectives and implement strategic plans to meet those objectives.
- Demonstrated success as a positive, collaborative and supportive leader, able to organize, motivate, mentor and develop people.
- Experienced, well-organized, independent, proactive team member, capable of managing all responsibilities and deadlines with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Effective cross-cultural communication skills and sensitivity when dealing with groups /stakeholders unfamiliar with the requirements and processes of a large institution.
