Our programs and services are evaluated using performance measurement tools to ensure that we are efficiently and effectively working on the root causes of food insecurity. We are hiring a **Social Research Supervisor** to lead our research team (2 direct reports). This position will be primarily responsible for supervising the Calgary Food Bank’s research and evaluation activities, ensuring that these contribute to the CFB’s mission and vision, aligned with the organization’s strategic priorities. This position plays a key role in positioning the Calgary Food Bank as a trusted advisor and information provider in the community.

**Primary responsibilities**:

- Responsible for identifying and pursuing research opportunities through collaboration with community and academic institutions for research concerning food security and insecurity, trends, and providing forecasts.
- Using in-depth knowledge of research needs and demonstrated understanding of the non-profit sector, the Supervisor is responsible for the Research and Evaluation Strategy development, designing, supervising, and conducting research and evaluation projects that inform programming, organization, community, and public policy through the CFB lens.
- Pursue data integration of various data sources of the Calgary Food Bank to maintain and analyze data repository and streamline internal data collection and accuracy.
- Assist in communicating technical issues, processes and solutions related to research activities.
- Facilitate internal and external communication of findings that identify gaps for policies, social services, and programs. This includes sharing information with staff, volunteers, and other community stakeholders to inform decisions affecting food insecurity, public policy, and the CFB.
- Respond, or coordinate a collaborated response, to external data queries for transparency (e.g., Charity Intelligence) and research (e.g., HungerCount, E4A) purposes.
- Program Evaluation: Design, implement, and oversee appropriate variables and data collection tools for the evaluation of programs. In collaboration with Program Evaluation Analyst, maintain the Calgary Food Bank’s Performance Measurement Strategy. Assist Program Evaluation Analyst s in facilitating the Performance Measurement Strategy’s reviews.
- Identify opportunities to improve and refine data governance to reflect best practices.
- Ensure data safety by establishing and following protocol for safe data collaboration and sharing.
- Support, coach and supervise the CFB’s research staff and volunteers.
- Collaborate with and supervise students and other academics conducting research projects with the Calgary Food Bank.
- Maintain detailed and organized project documentation. Perform accurate and efficient data entry as the impact for error is high.
- Synthesize complex information into customized reports and presentations, aligning knowledge translation methods to the needs of the intended users.
- Report writing and project management related to research projects including coordination and liaising with team members, providing feedback, facilitating meetings and focus groups.
- Ensures that everyone they come in contact with at the Food Bank whether donor, volunteer, client, agency representative and those in partnerships with the CFB are treated with respect and dignity.
- Primary point of contact for external and internal research and the principal liaison for other organizations, universities, and regulating bodies.
- Perform other duties as required.

**As a supervisor you are responsible for**:

- Organizing and prioritizing work requirements for staff, ensuring tasks and duties are delegated appropriately.
- Interpreting and ensuring that you and the team are in compliance with CFB’s policies and procedures.
- Ensuring applicable administration and supervisory functions defined in the CFB People policies are completed. For example, performance evaluations, job descriptions and management of employee time in the payroll system.
- Liaising with key stakeholders and the management team in support of effective people management, needs assessments, orientation, and follow-through.
- Managing performance related issues and liaising with management team members for support when required.
- Assisting your team towards personal development goals.
- Upholding policy and contributing to the Health and Safety of all persons accessing and working at the CFB.
