Research Assistant, Faculty of Social Work

**Description**
This position reports to the Research Lead of the Calgary site or the project team: Transforming Masculinities: Capacity building for Men for GBV Prevention and Gender Justice. This role will be responsible for project coordination, organizing research meetings, regularly updating project workplans, coordinating virtual and in-person symposia, conference and community presentations, writing community reports and peer reviewed articles, literature reviews and assisting with community-based qualitative and participatory action research, and community KMB and policy advocacy.
The successful applicant will have experience in gender-based violence prevention, preferably working with men as allies. They will communicate effectively with partners in various countries, and academic, community, and government stakeholders.
**Summary of Key Responsibilities** (job functions include but are not limited to):
- Research workplans and timelines prepared and regularly updated with research activities and logistics details
- Budget coordination across partners
- Expense reporting for the project
- Joint research activities organised and well-coordinated
- Minutes of research meetings written
- Work closely with the Primary Investigators through all identified tasks and logistics
- Attend regional and cross-regional meetings
- Organization of online and in-person symposia
- Organization of online trainings
- Preparation of community reports and presentations on behalf of the Principle Investigator
- Contribute to manuscript development and other research transfer activities with other members of the team
- Support and/or co-author on peer-reviewed journal articles
- Assist in creating research posters, project flyers etc.
- Co-present in conference presentations and national symposia
- Conduct literature reviews
- Assist with transcription, data analysis and interpreting results
- Develop online surveys through Qualtrics survey program
- Attend research trainings that will be designed and facilitated by the project team
**Qualifications / Requirements**:
- Completion of Bachelors of Social Work or related degree is required
- Minimum 2 years of research assistant experience is required
- Minimum 2 years experience with qualitative, community-based, and participatory action research methods is required
- Experience working with diverse populations, intercultural awareness, and intersectionality required
- Have obtained TCPS2 Ethics Certification.
- Knowledge and commitment to anti-racism, feminist and anti-colonial practice is required
- Fluency in a second language (Dari, Nepali, Pashto, Spanish, Tagalog) is an asset to work with regional partners
- Experience with critical narrative inquiry method is an asset
- Experience in conference/community presentations is required, with proficiency in Zoom/ Zoom webinar
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs, including Teams is required
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills is required
- Ability to work both independently and with a team that is located outside of Calgary
- Well-organized and attentive to detail
- Professional integrity in accordance with ACSW and CASWE Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice
