**About Us**:
Treasury and Risk Management (TRM) is responsible for managing the government's cash resources, borrowing programs, financial risk management, liquidity and banking activities. The division provides investment policy advice and portfolio planning and evaluates the investment performance of government investments, including the Alberta Heritage Savings Trust Fund. TRM, on behalf of the province, is responsible for administering the program that provide loans to local authorities for capital projects. In addition, the division provides policy advice for financial institutions and capital markets, as well as regulates some Alberta financial institutions and oversees other related regulatory bodies. TRM also takes the lead in administering the regulatory sandbox for Alberta’s financial services and fintech companies. TRM assists in the identification, measurement and control of the risks of accidental loss to government.

**Seeking a detailed and deadline-orientated individual as a Project Manager, Treasury Management with financial background and experience to join our esteemed team. The Project Manager leads projects to improve internal operational processes within the Treasury and Risk Management (TRM) division and across government. These projects include improving debt and treasury management operational practices. The incumbent also provides issues management support to the Assistant Deputy Minister Office (ADMO) of TRM.

Responsibilities includes but not limited to:
The Project/Issues Manager supports the ADMO and all branches of TRM to support strategic and operational goals of the division and the department.

Project Management:

- Creates all planning and project documentation relating to initiatives, projects and assignments
- Oversees the progress of projects to ensure activities are completed within budget, scope and timelines
- Responsible for keeping senior management informed of the progress of the projects. This includes regular informal or formal (e.g. briefing notes and business plan) status updates
- Collaborates with project teams (includes consultants) in keeping project activities on track and through this collaboration address any challenges to ensure project activities remain on track

Issues Management
- Provides cover-off support to the Director, Strategic Policy and Operations, when the Director is on vacation/absent or other times as required
- Contributes to special projects and initiatives as directed by the ADMO, including research and responding to Action Request Tracking System requests

**Qualifications**:
A university degree in a related field such as Business Administration, Economics or Political Science, with an understanding of financial analysis and financial governance and supplemented by a minimum of 3 years of progressively responsible experience in the managing projects is required. Experience in designing, scheduling and monitoring concurrent project assignments, including their underlying activities is preferred, as is experience in reviewing, analyzing and making recommendations to resolve issues.

- Understanding of project management principles and methodologies
- Hold, or in pursuit of, a Project Management certificate
- Communication and interpersonal skills for facilitating discussions, delivering clear, concise and consistent ideas that are understandable to a variety of audiences, including consultants
- Ability to approach politically sensitive matters in a confidential, proactive and positive manner
- Ability to be flexible and think strategically, analytically and creatively in order to identify gaps and generate options/solutions
- Ability to identify strategic opportunities and plan actions that align with business plan goals to address issues and priorities
- Understanding of operational planning, methodologies, principles, and techniques, including applicable government policies and guidelines
