**About Us**:
Environment and Protected Areas support Albertans in being proud stewards of air, land, water, and biodiversity by leading the work required to support environmental outcomes, outdoor recreation and sustainable development of natural resources.

**Role**:
The Issues Advisor assists the Executive Director and the Land-Policy & Programs Branch Leadership Team with various responsibilities coordinating, tracking, managing and resolving issues as they arise within the Division and Branch in a timely and responsive fashion. The Issues Advisor may also be called upon to resolve internal issues and tasks as they relate to operational plans. Priority advice on issues and communication strategies are also important components of the position.

The Issues Advisor plays a critical role in establishing, implementing, integrating, and monitoring effective issues management and communication processes. The Advisor works under high pressure situations to provide timely and accurate advice on current and emerging issues and ensures information is disseminated to communications and engagement team members in an efficient and effective manner. A strong understanding of communications, policy, and departmental organization issues is required, as well as the linkages of these items to all aspects of delivery.

To be successful in this role, you will be creative, have attention to detail, strong analytical and project planning skills, communication skills and the ability to effectively prioritize multiple tasks. You will interact extensively with the public via social media and digital platforms.

**Qualifications**:
University degree in Communications, Public Relations, Environmental Studies, Public Engagement, Social Sciences, Law or a related field supplemented by a minimum of four years directly related experience.

Equivalency: Directly related education or experience considered on the basis of:

- 1 year of education for 1 year of experience; or
- 1 year of experience for 1 year education.

**Salary**:
$2,716.64 - $3,550.90 bi-weekly ($70,904 - $92,678/year)

**Notes**:
This position is a 36.25 hour per week position.
