Giant Tiger is hiring a External Communications Coordinator This role will be responsible to execute external communications programs to increase brand awareness of Giant Tiger's corporate purpose and direction, and product offerings. This role is a hybrid work model with the need to come onsite to the Ottawa Home Office 1-2 times/week.

External Communications Coordinator, Role Specific Accountabilities:
- Coordinate Storytelling: Craft compelling and authentic narratives that highlight our brand, products, and franchise / community stories. Develop creative and engaging content for press releases, social media, and other communication channels.- Media Relations: Pitch story ideas, coordinate interviews, and secure media coverage to increase brand visibility and product in market support.- Content Creation: Produce engaging written and visual content for various platforms, including press releases, social media updates, and other communications channels as assigned. Collaborate with the community and marketing teams on content as necessary.- Event Support: Assist in the planning and execution of PR events, product launches, and special promotions to enhance brand presence. Coordinate media attendance and provide on-site support for a variety of Giant Tiger events.- Plan and coordinate social posts for Giant Tiger's LinkedIn accounts that align with external communication plans.- Monitoring and Analysis: Monitor and report on media coverage related to Giant Tiger and the retail industry at large. Prepare a variety of media reports to assess the effectiveness of PR campaigns.- Brand Advocacy: Identify and nurture brand advocates and influencers who align with our mission and values. Cultivate partnerships and in season programs (influencer mailing etc.) to amplify our message and reach a wider audience.

External Communications Coordinator, Requirements:
- Diploma, degree, in a communications, public relations, marketing, journalism, or a related field is preferred- Superior written and verbal communications skills. Interpersonal skills and tact.- Understanding of social media platforms and influencer campaign planning and execution- Must be detail-oriented and resourceful, with the ability to multi-task and meet deadlines- Ability to work independently and effectively as a member of the team- Must have computer software knowledge and experience in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint- Flexibility to work weekends/evenings, upon request- Travel required for overnight stays- Valid driver's license- Ability to lift up to 20lbs
