**Your opportunity**:
Since 1965, the Centre for Industrial Relations and Human Resources has brought together professors from many different disciplines and departments at the University of Toronto to teach and conduct research on all aspects of the workplace and employment relationships. The CIRHR faculty reflect the depth, breadth, and diversity of our university. The CIRHR is located in a historic home with administrative and faculty offices, an on-site Library, student computer facilities, study space and a classroom.
Under a general direction of the Director, Centre for Industrial Relations & Human Resources, this position acts as the key contact for all career development related inquiries for the centre. One of the main responsibilities is to advise and coach students on selecting work-integrated learning opportunities, developing career goals, and facilitating educational workshops and seminars. The incumbent also interacts with alumni and identifies, fosters, and maintains relationships with potential and existing employers. This incumbent works closely with the Graduate Coordinator and Undergraduate Coordinator in providing detailed information to students on program and/or course requirements. In addition, this incumbent will work collaboratively with the Communications Officer on the career development related communications strategy with the relevant stakeholders.
This role is currently eligible for a hybrid work arrangement, pursuant to University policies and guidelines, including but not limited to the University of Toronto’s Alternative Work Arrangements Guideline.
**Your responsibilities will include**:
- Advising and coaching students on developing career-related goals
- Advising and coaching students on the selection of appropriate work-integrated learning opportunities
- Providing detailed information to students on program and/or course requirements
- Identifying, fostering, and maintaining relationships with potential and existing employers
- Coordinating networking activities between students and employers and/or alumni
- Updating and maintaining database records
- Implementing plans and process improvements for program activities
- Advising and coaching students on interview skills and/or performance
**Essential Qualifications**:
- Bachelor's Degree or acceptable combination of equivalent education and experience. Education includes career and/or adult education component (e.g. diploma or certificate)
- Minimum three (3) years of related experience in a university career centre, co-op, or recruitment setting developing and maintaining relationships, including active outreach.
- Strong advising and coaching experience in supporting students on the selection of work-integrated learning opportunities at the Centre.
- Experience managing effective relationships with a wide variety of internal and external stakeholders including industrial partners, alumni, staff, and faculty members.
- Strong relationship cultivation, building and management skills with a customer service-oriented focus.
- Experience in employer development and knowledge of best practices; developing, coordinating and implementing large scale programs.
- Must show evidence of a commitment to equity, diversity, inclusion, and the promotion of a respectful and collegial learning and working environment.
- Broad knowledge of labour market trends
- Effective interpersonal skills when interacting with colleagues, students, staff, faculty and external contacts.
- Strong organizational skills demonstrated through the creation of accurate timelines, work-back plans, schedules, etc.
- Able to manage conflicting demands, and able to work well under pressure.
- Strong presentation and public speaking skills
- Demonstrated ability to effectively collaborate and build relationships with partners and work cohesively as part of a team, such as supporting the team in administrative and records management tasks
