**About team**

At Toronto Metropolitan University’s Career, Co-op & Student Success Centre (CC&SS), we support students’ navigation of their academic, personal and career success. Our work includes career advising, central co-op program oversight, employer engagement and student success supports such as the First Year Experience initiative and the Student Success Navigator team. We are committed to providing our students and alumni with innovative support and development skills so they can excel during their time at the University and into their careers as graduates.

**The Opportunity**:
As a Career Education Specialist, you will design, develop, deliver and evaluate a Faculty-wide Career Development Program, including the creation of career-related resource materials to support students’ professional development. This role will work collaboratively with faculty stakeholders, the Campus Engagement team, the Co-op Specialist team, and the Student Success team to provide, in keeping with the curriculum, a full suite of career education and student success offerings for a diverse group of students and alumni. Additionally they will complement the Faculty’s delivery, develop stakeholder partnerships with other units/departments in the university, and design and implement career education programs tailored to the distinct needs of diverse student and alumni groups across campus.

**Qualifications**

- Successful completion of a post-secondary degree program and a minimum of four years of experience in higher education, employment counselling, and/ or graduate recruitment with experience with project management from development to implementation phase. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
- Demonstrated experience in one-to-one career advising and facilitation of career preparation classes/workshops with extensive understanding of job search techniques
- Strong oral and written communication and stakeholder engagement skills in order to build faculty relationships and showcasing engagement benefits to academic colleagues via e.g. presentations and 1:1 meetings
- Demonstrated experience in curriculum development and classroom delivery and knowledge of current/emerging theories and practices in career education
- Awareness of current issues in higher education, and in the retention and transition from post-secondary to employment or further education
- Strong knowledge of the labour market and graduate recruitment trends with the ability to interpret and communicate these trends to clients (Students and Alumni, Faculty, employers)
- Knowledge of issues related to employment barriers and issues of workplace accommodation, needs of a diverse client population (e.g., first-generation, Aboriginal, adult learners etc.)
- An understanding of and willingness to engage in data collection, analysis, and on-going program evaluation as a central component of strategic planning and program development
- Experience in using social media platforms as communication vehicles for promotional and educational purposes
- Strong ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
- Entrepreneurial mind-set, taking an agile approach to continuous improvement of student support offerings.
