The Academic Advising & Career Centre (AA&CC) embraces a holistic philosophy in its delivery of integrated academic advising, learning skills, career development and employment coaching services to students. With a commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion, the department operates as a cross-functional team working closely with campus partners to support student success and retention, foster student engagement and strengthen the student experience at UTSC.

**Your Opportunity**:
Under the direction of the Director, Academic Advising and Career Support Services (AA&CC), the Manager oversees the implementation of an exceptional integrated advising, career, and employment services orientation to UTSC students, and recent graduates. They will bring an understanding of student development and learning, and will lead a team of Student Service practitioners, which consists of Academic Learning Strategists, Academic Advisors, Career Counsellors, Career Strategists, Employer Recruitment and Engagement Coordinators in the successful development and delivery of dynamic services, high impact programs, resources, and events. The Manager also provides oversight for the Resource Centre, and leadership to the centralized support team.

Aligning with the goals of the AA&CC, Office of Student Experience and Wellbeing and UTSC’s strategic priorities, the Manager will work as part of the broader Office of Student Experience and Wellbeing team and other University, and tri-campus partners on retention working groups, planning committees and implement initiatives and interventions with the goal of improving attrition, retention, persistence and preparing students for their careers for personal and professional success.

The Manager is a member of the OSEW leadership team and will have a student-centered focus that demonstrates a commitment to the University’s principles of equity, diversity and inclusion and ensure that all students and recent graduates, especially those who face barriers to inclusion and equity in the academic environment or workplace. The Manager will take a data informed approach in decision-making, and ensure metrics is aligned with departmental and university priorities. Keeps abreast of and works to actively integrate emerging innovative student success, equity and inclusion, and strategic enrolment management strategies. Uses methods and tools to provide programming and services that ensures academic, career, and employment supports are provided for students.

**Qualifications Required**:
**Education**:
A graduate degree in a relevant field is required or an equivalent combination of directly relevant education and progressive professional work and leadership experience. (Master’s in Education, Social Work, Business Administration, Counselling Psychology). Specialized training in Change and Project Management, program development, knowledge on adult education learning principles, student development theory, and retention supports for overall student success.

**Experience**:
A minimum of five (5) years of experience in a fast-paced post-secondary, government or not-for-profit environment leading the coordination and provision of customer service and programming for diverse populations including five (5) years of experience leading others, including training and development grounded in higher education or organizational development principles. Proven innovative program design, change management, project management, implementation and evaluation of programs, initiatives and services are required. Practical experience, and theoretical knowledge in social justice, equity, diversity and inclusion is essential. Experience managing an integrated service model within Student Services or similar integrated service environment an asset.
