- The Business Relationship Manager is a relationship management expert and corporate thinker who contributes to the relationship between business units and IT, by actively partnering with business peers to assist in defining the strategic direction for IT. They work to identify ways in which IT can support and advance business objectives. The Business Relationship Manager is an embedded IT partner who works hand-in-hand with business units; shapes business demand into supply by facilitating the creation of needs backlog, business cases and strategic plans; ensures value optimization and communication; and enables continuous improvement. The Business Relationship Manager prepares information for senior management regarding the status of strategic plans, business partner needs and emerging technologies; has expert knowledge of existing business services and the internal functions in place to deliver those services.**DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Partner with and serve as liaison with IT and HRM business units to identify, forecast, plan and address IT needs.
- Leads the business unit through the Demand Management process and the staged gated IT planning processes associated with the implementation of new technology services/capabilities.
- Support Demand Management activities with both business units and IT stakeholders in the creation of business cases, research, requirements gathering, budget management, manage expectations, business value realization and prioritization.
- Develop and build Business Unit domain knowledge, build positive relationships, develop business unit technology roadmaps, and educate IT partners on business partner’s strategic objectives.

**QUALIFICATIONS**
**Education & Experience**
- Degree in Computer Science, Business Administration, Information Management, or Information Systems; a Masters Degree considered an asset.
- 8 years minimum experience in each of:

- Information Technology delivery / operations environment where IT best practice processes have been successfully implemented including project management and business analysis;
- 5 years minimum experience in each of:

- Direct client/business relationship management/account management experience, preferably in an Enterprise-level IT environment;
- Directly leading the development of strategic plans (short and long term) with competing priorities with a diverse set of stakeholders;
- Facilitating the development and implementation of business initiatives and projects, based on management objectives;
- Progressive management experience including direct authority over budgets and direct reports;
- Project management experience preferably in the development and implementation of business solutions.
- ITIL Foundations Certification considered an asset
- Project Management Certification (PMP) considered an asset
- Business Relationship Management Professional (BRMP) considered an asset

**Technical/Job Specific Knowledge and Abilities**
- Expert knowledge in client/business relationship management techniques
- Ability to map joint organizational vision and long-term thinking, imagination, and idea generation.
- Highly skilled and experienced at negotiating conflict and problem-solving to achieve win-win outcomes at executive levels.

- Ability to influence and break down silos within an organization as well across organizations.
- Ability to focus on business value results, rather than solutions.
- Technical aptitude, requirements management, and the ability to assess and articulate risk variables.
- Ability to perform business and process analysis
- Ability to develop strong relationships and maintain credibility
- Ability to understand and integrate business strategies and trends in technology to deliver value.
- Solid understanding of IT assets and capabilities.
- Ability to identify gaps and areas that need improvement.
- Thorough knowledge of IT best practices including but not limited to IT service planning, service management, portfolio/program/project management, systems development lifecycle.
- Knowledge of public sector policies, procedures, and key processes. (i.e. business planning, operating/capital budget, procurement)
