Senior Planner – Rail - TRU Alliance

Welcome to TRU East: The Transpennine Route Upgrade (TRU) aims to deliver faster, longer, more frequent, and more reliable services across the north of England, from Newcastle, Hull, and York towards Manchester and Liverpool via Leeds. The aim of the TRU Alliance is to transform the East of Leeds route allowing people to travel faster, more reliably, and in greater comfort between the North’s great cities. Providing passengers with more choice, more seats, and better facilities on a safer, cleaner, more environmentally friendly railway.

Murphy has created a new role for a Senior Planner to work on a high-profile rail project in Leeds/York. You will prepare and articulate expert plans for the project, ensuring that they comply with company and functional procedures. You will drive efficiency by certifying they meet with standards and contribute to business success.

What you will be doing:

  1. Collaborate across disciplines to develop and revise the civil delivery programme, ensuring a comprehensive understanding of intended delivery strategy, dependencies, risks, and progress.
  2. Input into progress reporting, contribute insights, identify issues, and propose effective solutions.
  3. Prepare a resourced programme, including reviewing the outcome for conformance with expectations and requirements.
  4. Contribute to the risk register and undertake schedule risk analysis.
  5. Work closely with other planners/sections to identify and plan critical interfaces.
  6. Input into collaborative planning and interface workshops.
  7. Manage personally controlled project documentation in an orderly fashion.
  8. Carry out other relevant duties as required from time to time.
  9. Contribute to coaching, supporting, and formal training of others.
  10. Provide a link to communicate planning community information between all parties.
  11. Draw up a bid preparation programme and contribute to the tender queries database.
  12. Define methods and establish competitive outputs, in consultation with the estimator and other team members, including the supply chain in appropriate circumstances.
  13. Assist with the design engineer to establish a design brief for temporary works.
  14. Provide the estimator with a justified schedule of temporary works and other indirect cost items.
