The Ministry of the Solicitor General, Ontario Provincial Police, and the Fleet, Supply and Weapons Services Bureau is seeking a qualified individual to join our Garage Administration & Vehicle Pool unit.

In this exciting, rewarding and challenging opportunity, you will coordinate the day-to-day administrative operations in the OPP vehicle garage by scheduling work, completing service checklist prior to vehicle delivery.

Vehicle types include cars, trucks, snowmobiles, trailers, personal watercraft, boats, motorcycles and all-terrain vehicles.

What can I expect to do in this role?To coordinate the day-to-day administrative operations in an OPP vehicle garage by scheduling work, completing service checklist prior to vehicle delivery. Vehicle types include cars, trucks, snowmobiles, trailers, personal watercraft, boats, motorcycles, and all-terrain vehicles.

How do I qualify?Mandatory

  • Ability to pass an OPP background/ security investigation.
  • Job requires a valid Automobile Mechanic's Licence Class 310S or Truck Coach Technician Licence 310T.
  • Must possess a valid Driver's Licence Class G.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of automotive technology, techniques and specialized equipment including winches and hydraulic systems to review vehicle fitness prior to delivery.
  • Knowledge of technical manuals and OPP maintenance policies and guidelines to review vehicle and equipment maintenance and repair work and ensure adherence to established maintenance schedules.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Suite, digital pictures, scanning, fleet management, and drawing software (e.g. Paint, Excel and PowerPoint) to produce a variety of materials and track repairs.
  • Knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and WHIMS to safely perform a service checklist prior to the delivery of vehicles.
  • Written and Oral communication skill to discuss resolution of repair problems, coordinate service with external service providers, and log and modify associated work orders.
  • Interpersonal skills to foster and maintain cooperative working relationships with bureau and regional staff who pick up and return vehicles and when responding to questions or seeking/providing clarification on mechanical problems.
  • Problem solving and analytical skills to review mechanical and electrical diagnoses and troubleshooting, determine the nature of the problem, and assess whether repairs can be made or equipment and/or parts must be replaced.
  • Organization and planning skills to ensure timely scheduling and coordination of repairs, maintenance and delivery of vehicles.
