**Job Summary**

The Indigenous Parenting Program Coordinator position will provide support to Indigenous families in Orillia, Barrie and Midland/Simcoe County. The Coordinator will provide support to families using partnerships, strength-based and family centred approaches. Support is provided in both group settings and on an individual basis.

**Duties**
- Maintain strict confidentiality
- Develop and implement a range of culturally safe educational experiences to stimulate children’s learning and confidence
- Provide increased opportunities for caregivers of Indigenous young children to have access to activities which develop social networks; including participation in activities which aim to increase their knowledge and skills
- Develop culturally based community driven activities and projects that promote community participation, enhance parenting experience and meet program objectives
- Develop, coordinate and facilitate workshops based on Traditional Indigenous parenting models and practices in collaboration with DBCFS and other Indigenous child welfare agencies.
- Develop materials and resources for supported play groups and home visits
- Other duties as assigned.
- Resource and support parents with information as requested and where appropriate refer to partner agencies for additional support
- Facilitate culture-based programming that supports the above objectives
- Secure Indigenous facilitators, purchase program materials, prepare nutritious snacks/meals and outreach to clients to ensure maximum attendance
- Maintain client files, client evaluations and periodic statistical reports as required by contract.

**Qualifications**
- Bachelor’s Degree or College Diploma in a related field (Social Work, Child and Youth Work, Social Services) or relevant mix of education and lived experience.
- Minimum 3 years experience working within an Indigenous Community.
- Experience working with Indigenous women and their families involved in the correctional system, child welfare system, and/or social welfare system.
- Experience in case management and excellent time management.
- Strong knowledge of Indigenous and mainstream supports in the community.
- Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent understanding of confidentiality.
- Effective computer skills including MS Office, Outlook, Excel, MS Teams, etc.
- Demonstrated understanding of trauma informed care, cultural safety, and a willingness to train wherever is needed to best represent ONWG’s members.
- Class “G” valid driver’s license required with a clean driving record.
