Hours : 37.5 hours / week

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Orillia & District’s mission is “to enable life changing mentoring relationships to ignite the power and potential of young people.”

We are seeking a full-time Mentoring Coordinator to provide casework management in accordance with the National Standards set out by Big Brothers Big Sisters of Canada. They will be responsible for the intake and matching of volunteer mentors with children and youth, and to monitor those matches to ensure the healthy development of the relationships. The Mentoring Coordinator will work within the guidelines, policies and mission of the Agency and will be accountable and responsible for specific projects as assigned.

**Primary Responsibilities**
- Adapt and re-imagine the delivery of programs and services to meet the needs of the community
- Continuously monitor program outcomes to ensure high-quality program delivery
- Create and deliver training programs to volunteers
- Manage intake of children and volunteers including orientation, interviewing, screening etc.
- Conduct reference checks of potential volunteers
- Inform volunteers of their acceptance or rejection
- Contact schools or other involved social service agencies as appropriate for assessment input
- Create and conduct the Pre-Match Training program with mentors, mentees and parents/guardians
- Maintain case notes on all cases in accordance with the National Standards
- Facilitate match closure process for mentor, mentee, and parent/guardian
- Provide regular reports to Executive Director, or special reports as requested
- Maintain strict confidentiality as outlined in Agency Privacy and Confidentiality Policy
- Remain aware of federal and provincial privacy legislation and the Agency’s privacy policies and practices
- Ensure all mentees, parents/guardians, and mentors are informed of any pertinent Agency information such as group programs, change of policy, change of address, etc.
- Perform administrative functions as required to manage caseload
- Make referrals to other agencies as warranted
- Participate on committees as required
- Liaise with schools, other youth services, other community groups, clubs or the public in general as required
- Assist with recreation and fundraising events as required
- Perform other duties and responsibilities from time to time, as the situation requires, and as assigned by the Executive Director

**QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES**
- Experience in the development and management of children and youth programs would be considered an asset
- Relevant experience in casework practices and social services would be considered an asset
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Word processing, spreadsheet and internet software skills
- Sound judgement, empathy, and emotional maturity

**Salary**: $40,000.00-$45,000.00 per year
