What is the opportunity?

The Reference Data Management team has 2 distinct functions. We manage various mapping tables and hierarchies in an internal database and we act as Subject Matter Experts (SME) for the Enterprise on RBC Business & Client Classification. The Analyst, is responsible for maintenance of reference data owned/managed by the CDO (Chief Data Office), focusing on operational excellence, data accuracy and managing various Stakeholder inquiries.

As the Analyst, you will participate in both BAU and project-based work and be responsible for maintaining and creating documentation around processes as well as suggesting process improvements to continually streamline work. Please note: This is not a technical role, business communication skills and attention to detail are the most critical skills required.

What will you do?

  • Act as a SME (Subject Matter Expert) on RBC Business/Client Classification Elements, providing guidance to the Enterprise
  • Closely work with team to support the improvement of content related to business & client classification at RBC
  • Respond to inquiries promptly
  • Gather, analyze and sort data (sometimes large data sets)
  • Perform reference data updates and onboard new tables to internal database
  • Maintain owned pages, Reference Data and hyperlinked items on internal RBC Intranet site
  • Participate in the investigation of data issues and development of resolution plan
  • Work as part of a team working within an agile methodology and leveraging the use of JIRA to achieve both BAU tasks and project goals related to business and client classification
  • Apply critical thought to existing tools, controls and processes and make recommendations for improvement

What do you need to succeed?

Must-have:

  • Attention to detail
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Minimum 1 - 3 years of experience in an operational or business services environment
  • Ability to drive efficiencies in an environment where accurate execution of processes and controls is crucial
  • Basic Excel, Word & Power Point skills

Nice to Have:

  • Familiarity with RBC systems applications and/or risk processes containing/consuming business & client classification data elements
  • General knowledge around business and client classification
  • Experience working with JIRA in an Agile environment
  • Intermediate to advanced Excel Skills
  • SQL Experience
  • Experience working in a client facing role creating RBC client profiles or in a credit, risk or operational capacity.
  • Strong data analysis background
  • Decision making skills
