What is the Opportunity?

As part of the Data Management team at RBC, the Data Lineage Analyst will be responsible for documenting the entire data lineage lifecycle, from the original source of the data to its point of consumption in reports. This includes any associated data transformations and ensuring data accuracy and integrity.

The ideal candidate will maintain relationships with various business and IT stakeholders to understand and communicate data lineage details.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Document data lineage from source to consumption, including data transformations.
  • Collaborate with Data Management Offices, Data Custodians, and Data Stewards to understand data lineage reporting standards and best practices.
  • Leverage data lineage artifacts captured by other teams and share artifacts to avoid duplication of effort.
  • Identify and communicate options to optimize data lineage capture and documentation.
  • Develop knowledge and become a valuable team resource, supporting data lineage development in general.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in data management, data lineage capture, data analysis, or related data programs.
  • Post-secondary education or equivalent in Finance, Data Analysis, or related programs.
  • Experience with data manipulation and analysis tools such as Datameer, SQL.
  • Experience with Sarbanes Oxley (SOX) controls and compliance.
  • Experience with data governance and metadata management tools such as Collibra.
  • Experience handling and deriving information from large data sets.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with both business and technology staff at different levels of seniority.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Graduate or post-graduate degree or professional designations or equivalent.
  • Minimum 2 years of deep and broad management consulting experience with an emphasis on business strategy or Process/Productivity Improvements.
  • Lean or Process Improvement Designations.
