This qualitative study seeks to investigate strategies that can optimize delivery of family planning care to ensure that Indigenous peoples have experiences that are empowering, family-focused, and free of stigma and discrimination.

The Research Coordinator will work closely with a multi-disciplinary team of researchers, Indigenous health leaders, and other care providers to gather and share knowledge about Indigenous peoples' experiences of accessing family planning services in British Columbia (BC). Results will be used by communities and other health system stakeholders to design, implement, and evaluate new culturally appropriate family planning programs, services, and shared decision-making protocols that are driven by Indigenous stories, knowledge, beliefs, values, practices, models of health and healing, as well as clinical best practices.

Responsibilities will focus on conducting the study activities and developing trusting, mutually beneficial relationships with Indigenous leaders, communities, host nations, and organizations. Specific activities will include collaborating with partners to conduct study advertising, oversee participant recruitment, manage data collection (interviews, talking circles), data analysis, interpretation, manuscript preparation, and dissemination. This position will also facilitate the Indigenous-led Advisory Circle and co-lead the planning of an end-of-project knowledge exchange event. The Research Coordinator should have experience with Indigenous health research. Experience in qualitative methods and/or family planning is an asset.
