Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Research Project Coordinator to join our team at the Provincial Health Services Authority (PHSA). The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating research projects, including the Sentinel Practitioner Surveillance Network for annual influenza vaccine effectiveness evaluation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate research activities across groups and collaborators from various organizations, including research staff, sites, and teams; provincial, national and international collaborators; and other partners and stakeholders to discuss and resolve issues and challenges.
  • Develop materials such as research proposals & protocols, consent forms, and data collection tools, and assist in the development of funding applications and Research Ethics Board submissions.
  • Assist in establishing budgets and milestones for projects and grants, and develop strategies to monitor the progress of projects to ensure objectives and milestones are met.
  • Review, evaluate and develop study materials, tools, and documentation, and provide recruitment, orientation, and training to staff and study participants.
Requirements
  • A level of education, training, and experience equivalent to a Bachelor's degree in Science, Nursing, or a related health field and five (5) years of experience in a research project coordination and/or a research development and certification as a Project Management Professional.
  • Tri-Counsel Ethics Training for Research Involving Human Subjects and Good Clinical Practice (GCP) Certification would be considered an asset.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Broad knowledge of project design, methodologies, developing and managing project strategies, evaluation and monitoring, project management principles, and multiple project interaction and integration.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple resource intense projects within a fast paced environment.
  • Demonstrated research subject recruiting skills and experience.
  • Demonstrated organizational, analytical and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent ability to organize work and communicate effectively.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to exercise a high level of poise, tact, diplomacy, and discretion in dealing with a wide variety of sensitive and confidential situations and contacts.
  • Ability to work under pressure of deadlines.
  • Ability to accept responsibility and work independently.
  • Demonstrated ability to exercise initiative and independent judgment in the performance of duties.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team and maintain cooperative relationships under any circumstances.
  • Strong computer skills with an intermediate knowledge of MS Office as well as statistical software and academic literature databases.
  • Commitment to upholding the shared responsibility of creating lasting and meaningful reconciliation in Canada as per TRC and BC's Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act
  • As a strong asset for consideration, we are looking for our successful candidate to have: Knowledge of social, economic, political and historical realities of settler colonialism on Indigenous Peoples and familiarity with addressing Indigenous-specific anti-racism, anti-racism and Indigenous Cultural Safety and foundational documents and legislative commitments (The Declaration Act, the Declaration Action Plan, TRC, IPS, Remembering Keegan, etc.).
