Job Summary

The position is for a part time, salary Research Coordinator working on British Columbia Sub-hub of the Women Centred HIV Care Hub. This project aims to improve the quality of healthcare for women living with HIV across Canada through uniting a network of national stakeholders and experts in women and HIV/STBBIs, fostering knowledge mobilization of the WCHC model and other relevant care models. In partnership with a co-coordinator the individual will coordinate BC sub-hub meetings, develop meeting materials, distribute honoraria, liaise with WCHC leadership, act as a resource for trainees on the project, and otherwise support functioning of the BC sub-hub. Under the mentorship of the co-coordinator, the individual will support the development and facilitation of knowledge mobilization events with community members, clinical and social service providers, and researchers. This role will also be responsible for preparing, composing, editing and proofing documents such as grant applications, contracts, academic proposals and scientific communications (mentorship will be provided).

The applicant must possess excellent organizational and interpersonal skills, exercise good judgement on the job, and previous experience in community-based research environment is an asset. The applicant should have a sound understanding of the priorities of women living with HIV and connection to the community.

Organizational Status
The individual will report directly to the Principal Investigator of the assigned study.

Work Performed

Plan, coordinate, and co-facilitate knowledge mobilization events with diverse audiences

Prepare abstracts, manuscripts, presentations and educational materials

Assist in the writing and submission of grants

Coordinate meetings and liaise between sub-hub and national hub leadership.

Develop meeting materials, including agendas, meeting minutes, slides, and other pertinent materials

Distribute and reconcile participant honoraria

Provide training to new employees

Support grant submissions

Other activities at the discretion of the PI

Consequence of Error/Judgement
Tasks are assigned and the incumbent plans and schedules his/her own work. Errors made could influence the ability of the PI to meet critical deadlines, as well as compromise the results of research projects and affect funding applications, thereby impacting the credibility of the Investigator. Poor decisions may be damaging to the reputation of and cause financial loss to the Principal Investigator, The Centre, the Research Institute and the University.

Supervision Received
Direct supervision will be provided by the Principal Investigator of the assigned studies. Mentorship received from co-coordinator.

Minimum Qualifications
High school graduation, some additional training in a related field and a minimum two years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Qualifications

Health and community-based research experience is required. Applicant must have a demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal supervision and in a cooperative manner with a wide range of internal and external contacts. Preference will be given to women with lived experience of HIV.

Additional Requirements:

Exceptional interpersonal, communication, management and organizational skills as well as the ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing

Experience as a community research associate (non-academic patient partners who have been trained to participate in research) an asset

Experience working with community-based organizations (AIDS Service organizations preferred)

Sound knowledge of and demonstrated experience using community-based research principles

Ability to effectively manage multiple tasks and priorities

Ability to exercise sound judgment

Sound understanding of HIV among women and community priorities

Sound knowledge of scientific terminology in the health sector an asset

Team/collaborative skills, especially within a research infrastructure

Dedication to accuracy and attention to detail

A sound knowledge and proficiency in computer applications is an asset (MS Word, Excel, Zoom).
