Job Summary

The position is for a part time, salary Research Coordinator working on British Columbia Sub-hub of the Women Centred HIV Care Hub. This project aims to improve the quality of healthcare for women living with HIV across Canada through uniting a network of national stakeholders and experts in women and HIV/STBBIs, fostering knowledge mobilization of the WCHC model and other relevant care models. The individual will coordinate BC sub-hub meetings, develop meeting materials, distribute honoraria, liaise with WCHC leadership, act as a knowledgeable resource for trainees on the project, and otherwise support functioning of the BC sub-hub. They will also support the development and facilitation of knowledge mobilization events with community members, clinical and social service providers, and researchers. This role will also be responsible for preparing, composing, editing and proofing documents such as grant applications, contracts, academic proposals and scientific communications. This coordinator will also support a summer student conducting a resource scan and writing a report.

Additionally, the coordinator will mentor and train a co-coordinator who is a woman living with HIV in the duties required of a coordinator, and in the tenets of women centred HIV care. The applicant must possess excellent organizational and interpersonal skills, exercise good judgement on the job, and previous experience coordinating academic research. The applicant must also possess a strong knowledge of EDI, OCAP, and trauma informed care principles, particularly as they pertain to women living with HIV.

Organizational Status
The individual will report directly to the Principal Investigator of the assigned study.

Work Performed

Oversee progress of the sub-hub, ensuring the project moves ahead according to schedule and planning and facilitating associated research activities

Manage the sub-hub budget, including tracking and distributing honoraria and completing all associated paperwork

-Coordinate and schedule virtual meetings

Develop meeting materials, including agendas, meeting minutes, slides, and other pertinent materials.

Liaise between the sub-hub and the national hub leadership

Distribute honoraria and complete all required paperwork

Plan, coordinate, and co-facilitate knowledge mobilization events with diverse audiences

Provide support to trainees completing research activities and academic writing as needed

Prepare abstracts, manuscripts, presentations and educational materials

Support grant submissions

Support and train a co-coordinator

Other activities at the discretion of the PI

Consequence of Error/Judgement
Tasks are assigned and the incumbent plans and schedules his/her own work. Errors made could influence the ability of the PI to meet critical deadlines, as well as compromise the results of research projects and affect funding applications, thereby impacting the credibility of the Investigator. Poor decisions may be damaging to the reputation of and cause financial loss to the Principal Investigator, The Centre, the Research Institute and the University.

Supervision Received
Direct supervision will be provided by the Principal Investigator of the assigned studies.

Supervision Given
Co-supervision of a summer student. Mentorship and training of an incoming community member to become a research coordinator.

Minimum Qualifications
Completion of a university degree in a relevant discipline or technical program and a minimum four years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Some positions may require a graduate degree.

Preferred Qualifications

Health and community-based research coordination experience is a requirement. Applicant must have a demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal supervision and in a cooperative manner with a wide range of internal and external contacts.

Additional Requirements:

Exceptional interpersonal, communication, management and organizational skills as well as the ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing

Experience supporting community research associates (non-academic patient partners who have been trained to participate in research)

Experience working with community-based organizations (AIDS Service organizations preferred)

Experience planning, organizing, and facilitating knowledge translation events for community members/non-academic background

Ability to effectively manage multiple tasks and priorities

Ability to exercise sound judgement

Sound knowledge of and demonstrated experience using community-based research principles

Sound understanding of HIV among women living with HIV

Sound knowledge of scientific terminology in the health sector

Team/collaborative skills, especially within a research infrastructure

Dedication to accuracy and attention to detail

A sound knowledge and proficiency in computer applications (MS Word, Excel, Zoom).
