About the Role

The Clinical Practice team is a collaborative inter-professional group that works to build capacity in mental health service providers through coaching, mentoring, education and consultation.

The team supports service providers both within CASA and rural Alberta.

The Assessment Psychologist will:


Conduct assessment and interpretation of tests of advanced and specialized clinical/psychological services, including cognitive, memory, behavioural, emotional, academic, social, adaptive, personality and executive functioning.

Make independent, advanced clinical decisions regarding assessment, treatment and modification of treatment and discharge of multi-dimensional/complex patients.
Effectively triage patients based on their level of need (i.e. Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Treatment, Resources and Community Supports (FASTRACS) program referrals; manage patients by discharge dates).
Interpret assessment results and compile comprehensive psychological assessment reports that address the reason for referral and include appropriate recommendations.

One-on-one consultation with caregivers or clinicians regarding school placement/programming or implications of cognitive abilities on the ability to engage in therapy.

Attend school conferences to support the implementation of recommendations and school program planning.
Facilitate psychoeducational groups or provide presentations to CASA staff, families or external organizations.
Qualifications
Master's degree in psychology and formal training in psychological assessments.
Current registration in good standing with The College of Alberta Psychologists.
A minimum of two years of clinical practice in child and family mental health and/or youth addictions.

Prior educational and clinical experience in the administration, scoring and interpretation of cognitive, academic, social/behavioural/emotional, executive and adaptive functioning assessments of children and adolescents.

Prior success with high-needs youth with learning disabilities/developmental delay/executive dysfunction/complex needs is an asset.
Experience supporting the mental health of children and youth who identify as LGBTQ2S+.
Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team to build consensus.
Excellent organizational, interpersonal and communication skills.
Familiarity with electronic medical records or similar information systems.
Valid driver's license and access to a vehicle.
Conditions of Employment
A satisfactory Criminal Records Check with Vulnerable Sector Search. This would be the financial responsibility of the successful candidate.
A satisfactory Child Intervention Check.
Proof of COVID-19 vaccination or exemption on the basis of a protected legal ground.

Ability to pass and maintain Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) certification (training provided by CASA), as well as physical ability to perform all interventions.
